Will Al Gore endorse Obama?
It seems odd to think this considering Al knows Hillary and Bill so well, but I do not think it is implausible. I do not get the feeling that Gore will endorse Hillary, but he may remain silent out of respect for the Clinton's.

However, assuming that he doesn't and he endorses Obama... what will the reaction be here on the forums? Would any Hillary supporters feel differently about Obama? After all he endorsed Dean while snubbing Joe (and rightfully so!). Would it change opinions of Al Gore among Hillary supporters?

1. No - if he supports anyone,
It will be Edwards. He has already said he likes Edwards Energy plan the best and I don't think he has much love for the Clintons...re: 2000.

4. Funny, I read the same thing about Kerry supporting Edwards last
week.

I'd be happy with Gore supporting either of them. And the Gores and the Clintons do not like each other; Hillary is one of the reasons. Here's a revealing VF article:

5. No offense, but why?
Edwards is my second choice - a very close second choice. I like Edwards. However, as things stand his plan to shut Hillary out of the race (a plan I was rooting for) failed. It is now, more than ever, a two person race. The best he can hope for at this point is to stay in the race and gather delegates... and hope that he can play some type of Kingmaker at the convention. I don't see that happening either.

That being said, I think a Gore endorsement would be a serious blow to the Clinton campaign. It would undercut many of Hillary's arguments. It would just, over all, look really bad for them even worse than the John Kerry snub today looked for Edward's.

Obama's campaign message and Gore's passion seem to match up well. We need to change the way America approaches Global Warming and Energy. Gore can talk about that and how we need to change, and he can use his endorsement as leverage.

8. Obama's views on Nuclear energy are
not in sync with Gore's - plus JRE has the endorsement of Friends of the Earth which says a ton and here:

2. If he was going to, he probably would have done it by now.

6. I hope so- either him or Edwards-
they both are quite worthy imo.

7. Probably.
I don't think Edwards is going to be getting to many more endorses, simply because of his position now in the race (not that he doesn't deserve the endorsements), and I doubt Gore will endorse Clinton because of past animosity and, well, her positions.

9. I am hoping Mr. Gore sits quietly on the sidelines and waits this out.
He need not endorse anyone right now- it's not necessary and frankly, and too early anyway. Gore will endorse whomever gets the nomination I'm sure.

Plus, I have this fantasy that we'll get to the convention and it will be decided that neither Obama or Clinton can carry the country so they will have no choice but to draft Al Gore who can then take Obama on as VP and we can all cheer and jump on board with joy knowing it will be a landslide election in November.

Sorry- get a bit carried away with my fantasies sometimes...

10. I think he wants to stay out of it so that whoever wins will be open
to his input on environmental policy.

12. I agree. I feel it too.
I really think it could be like a nail in the coffin for Hillary. Gore can use his influence within the party to help Obama seal up the nomination, and get him to rework some of his energy policy plans, while at the same time throwing a knife in Hillary's back. It seems all win-win for Gore.
