Pelosi Endorses Obama?
How else do you explain George Miller's endorsement of Obama?

http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_7924179?nclick_check=1

Why wouldn't Pelosi pressure him to back Hillary. Do the two women have a poor relationship? Does Pelosi feel that Obama simply have a better chance of uniting the parties and getting more done in Congress (and hence, strengthening the chance of Dems holding Congress)?

I'm interested to hear other takes on this move.

11. Umm, not just the OP speculating...
California congressman George Miller (D) is also backing Obama's presidential campaign. This is perhaps the closest thing to getting a Nancy Pelosi endorsement as you can come without actually getting it. Miller is incredibly close with her politically. He wouldn't be doing this without her consent of sorts.

4. But isn't it odd that one of her top advisors would come forward with an...
...endorsement without checking with her first? And wouldn't it be more odd to go ahead with said endorsement if she was in disagreement?

The "?" is in the title for a reason. I'm not sure what to make of this, but I am interested in discussing it.

5. It's the other way around, folks. George Miller is the Speaker's "consiglere" to use Godfather-speak.

Could be a Nancy "wink" to organizational Dems w/o a public commitment.

8. True. I can't look at this as anything other than Pelosi endorsing Obama.
What that will mean for future endorsements will be verrry interesting.

9. My bet: Al Gore for Obama next week
I just think it would be timing, staying positive on tv.

Plus, Gore has probably been waiting for a chance to stick it to Hillary.

10. It could be. I think that Pelosi is sending a very strong message here...
...just in a subtle and savvy way.

I suspect we're at the precipice of an avalanche of (carefully timed) endorsements for Obama.

19. All the THs have been saying this is really an endorsement from Pelosi...
and the reason is because she thinks he will unite the country and help increase the majority in Congress.

16. Analysis on KO seems to view it as a signal to the "establishment" that Obama should be
taken seriously.

17. Why didn't Kerry endorse Obama before New Hampshire
Why didn't Kerry endorse Obama before New Hampshire - as he is a senator from a neighbouring state that endorsement may have been worth a few thousand extra votes. The timing seems strange - its a whole 9 days till Nevada (and these days 24 hours is a long time in this presidential campaign!).

20. Because NOBODY thought he needed it since he was so far ahead in the polls.
Kerry's endorsement now is timed PERFECTLY to rebut the "empty suit" charge by the Clintons. This endorsement makes him look like the establishment is accepting him.

24. I take it as a sign that Obama is "establishment"
and no one need worry that he'll do anything to upset the status quo.

23. I stated in another thread...
That I like Nancy Pelosi as a candidate more than Hillary Clinton. Whether she endorses Senator Obama or not, I can stomach her more than HRC.

25. Who
really gives a shit who she endorses? She has no business in the House herself let alone endorse anyone that is running for pres. It just would make me not want to vote for the person she endorses.
I could only think that she would endorse someone that shares her undemocratic views. I have to say that I do not support Obama or Hillary so who I support has nothing to do with my thinking.
