11. Obama on McClurkin
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/alexokrent/CnPz
Statement on Rev. McClurkin

"I have clearly stated my belief that gays and lesbians are our brothers and sisters and should be provided the respect, dignity, and rights of all other citizens. I have consistently spoken directly to African-American religious leaders about the need to overcome the homophobia that persists in some parts of our community so that we can confront issues like HIV/AIDS and broaden the reach of equal rights in this country.

I strongly believe that African Americans and the LGBT community must stand together in the fight for equal rights. And so I strongly disagree with Reverend McClurkin's views and will continue to fight for these rights as President of the United States to ensure that America is a country that spreads tolerance instead of division."

5. Admittedly, I'm not a huge Kerry fan, but why would Obama want to disavow him?
The McCloset thing, definitely. Though a handful of Hillbots here have escalated that into a much bigger deal than it actually is anywhere else on the planet.

Don't see the problem with the Kerry endorsement though. I find it more troubling that he was endorsed by Tim Johnson, whose voting record was frankly better when he was in a coma.

10. What you say is true
I, of course, wanted Johnson to recover, but I was hoping that his time in a coma had rattled the right-wing voting out of him.

12. I agree on the Tim Johnson thing,,,but on the other...
I think that until he completely stands away from McClurkin the activist gays are going to keep raggin on it. Those are the sorts of things that really do add up in November. Same for Kerry. Kerry's image remains very very bad with most people, they either still believe the swiftboating, or they dislike him because he jellyfished and gave the election to Bush. To have that much negativity on both sides of the fence is just pure poison, Might just as well set up the Kool-Aid stand and give free drinks to all Dems, because Kerry is going to kill off far more voters than he will cart in.

17. Everyone should disassociate themselves from everyone who has ever
associated himself or herself with anyone who has failed to disassociate herself or himself from everyone who is remotely associated with anyone whom some person or group dislikes for some reason. Now. Period.

these duplicitous oxygen atoms, we could make some progress on that global warming thingy, too!
