Poll question: So Richardson folks - where are we going now?
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 04:44 PM by dmallind
Apologies if this is a repeat - I didn't see one on a quick search.

Who's your next pick?

I'm moving to Edwards. I suspect his chances are slim but I like his detailed economic plans. May seem a bit of an ideological leap to some but I look at the sum of policy positions above supposed liberal vs. moderate rankings.

1. There are already 12 votes. There weren't 12 Richardson supporters on DU.

2. oh surely - we just didn't get involved in all the catfights so never got noticed
sadly, much like his candidacy.

6. but those polls are too frequently missed to be relevant
There were plenty of Richardson supporters. Given the left slant of DU probably not the 5% of NH, but even your sample shows him at 2% of DU (yes I know it's not a valid sample). 2% of DU - which is the same he got in IA and < half what he got in NH so not a high estimate by any means, is many more than 12. Obviously Richardson supporters are more likely to open a thread with his name on it than a generic poll where they are bound to be minimally represented.

10. Yet, 30 Richardson supporters appeared in the last 25 minutes?
I don't buy it. You're asking for Richardson supporters to vote. This poll is being hijacked. It's amusing nonetheless.

11. Perhaps a bit - they all are - but his fans are more likely to vote on a thread naming him right? NT

3. This die hard Biden supporter says -
sit back and enjoy the ride.

It's kinda nice to watch it all unfold without having to defend anybody.

Relax for awhile! I'm sure that's what Richardson is doing.

5. I went from Biden to Richardson after
Biden dropped out - now Richardson. ARGGGGGGGHHH. I can't seem to catch a break but as I see this playing out it's going to be Obama or Clinton and I prefer Clinton.

8. I'm leaning to Clinton as well.
But I have until Feb 5th to decide. And like I said, it's kinda nice not having a candidate.

20. I have a 2/5 deadline also (NY)
and I agree that the shopping for a candidate is kinda fun. What I don't like is the Obama/Clinton wars happening on this board. Posters are getting very nasty and personal and all they're doing (in their immature way) is hurting the party. I'm calling on both sides to knock it off but they wont - I assume they're too young to understand the ramifications of their actions. All they're doing is helping the pubs - they're not bringing anyone over to their candidate of choice - they're just making the pukes job easier in November.

7. Too early to draw any conclusion but color me surprised
It seems I am far from alone in going to Edwards - he's leading handily now.

So if I can ask a follow up from those joining me - what is it that attracted you to someone at least nominally more ideologically different from Bill than say a Clinton or even Obama?

13. As usual, JRE was complementary
Edwards congratulated Richardson, saying he had run a good race.

There was no immediate comment from the other campaigns.

"He was a very good candidate, a serious candidate," Edwards said in Columbia, S.C. "I congratulate him. He ought to be proud of what he's done. What's happened is, over time the race is becoming more focused. I think that's good for democracy. I think this thing's going on for a long time."

Richardson was easily elected to two terms as governor but will be forced from office by term limits in 2010.

that team Clark used on all the polls in 2004?

15. Moving from Edwards to Obama, probably.
If Edwards doesn't show well in S.C., I think he's done for good. I'm a realist, and I think Obama is a fine candidate. We desperately need him to prevent Hillary from sinking us in November.

16. If Edwards drops it's a real tough call for me
I like Obama's charisma and appeal to indies, but I like Clinton's ability to fight back and the full deskeletonizing of her closet in the national psyche.

I don't agree Clinton will sink us at all. She has much more solid support from Dems than BO, and the much-vaunted negatives are just a result of the deskeltonizing. The contingent on DU who claim they'll never vote for her will more than likely change their minds, and the ones who don;t are not representative of the electorate or even Democrats as a whole. If they were. Kucinich would be romping home.

I'd be happy with any of the viable three frankly, and if Edwards somehow drops out before 2/5 when I vote - which is pretty unlikely of course - it will depend on which one of the others happens to be on the top of my vacillating opinion between them on that day. Today I think it would be Clinton on a gut feel, but hard to say by then.

19. I'm nor sure, I think I'll just enjoy the show until I have to vote.
When Obama speaks my heart sings, when Edwards rips the insurance companies I start yelling "You go John!" I think that Hillary will fight like hell to beat the Republicans. I have problems with all three's lack of experience but since I seem to be out of step with the zeitgeist, so to speak, I think I'll just relax and enjoy the show.

Besides, I don't want to jinx another candidate--The Curse of the Cowgirl lives.

22. It exposed that people will vote in polls
even if the poll says "Richardson supporters, ??" you will get a lot of votes from people who never supported Richardson.

There sure haven't been that many pro-Richardson posters ever posting at DU at one time. I know, I looked hard.

24. This poll is being DU'd.
Judging by the number of votes being cast, most of those votes are from supporters of the other candidates. And they whine about voter fraud...
