You know you hate Hillary when Bill O'reilly thinks your attacks went too far
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 02:58 PM by antiimperialist
Chris Matthews said the other day that Hillary's success is a result of her husband having messed around.

Media Matters has picked up Bill O'reilly's comments yesterday in Fox criticizing long-time Hillary hater Chris Matthews:

"The reason she's a U.S. senator, the reason she's a candidate for president, the reason she may be a front-runner is her husband messed around." O'Reilly called Matthews' comment "rough" and said: "We don't do that here. We would never say that Senator Clinton got her job because her husband messed around. I mean, that is -- that is a personal attack. And it is questionable whether a network should allow that or not."

3. Well I agree with him
but he's only saying it to kick MSNBC in the ass. His motives are what count.

6. I don't agree with you
I would think Fox viewers would like the fact that Matthews said this about Hillary. Wouldn't this pro-Hillary defense hurt O'reilly among his base?

20. My feeling exactly: He is completely out of control on Hillary
He's totally nuts. He should be reprimanded and given a lesser role until he can get himself back under control.

8. Miller looked pathetic
That was pitiful, seeing her calling Matthews a "right-wing tool" only to backtrack later saying she was "just kidding".

11. I find it hard to believe that Bill O'Reilly doesn't have an ulterior motive here.
Yes, Chris Matthews' comment was despicable, and he deserves to be taken to task for it.

But I can't help thinking that O'Reilly's intent here is to come up with a clever way to attack Hillary Clinton. Plant the seed in the minds of people that "she got her job because her husband messed around." Don't take my word for it -- even Chris Matthews on liberal MSNBC thinks so!

Good point.

In their minds this would be the equivalent of Al Franken calling Hillary a bitch.

16. It's like a judge instructing a jury to disregard the comment they just heard.
Ignore the comment I just quoted to you, that Hillary got her job because her husband messed around. Ignore it. Just forget you ever heard that Hillary got her job because her husband messed around. Pretend I never said it, that Hillary got her job because her husband messed around. We don't do that here...

26. Matthews Has Let Himself Become A Player And Not An Observer
It doesn't matter as much what we think...What matters is he has diminished himself in the eyes of other media people... He has let himself become the story...

My dad for instance who says she's more of a Republican than a Democrat. This possibility really is her only hope of winning the GE.

13. Actually, I do have more respect for Hillary because of Bill's fooling around.
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 03:05 PM by AndyA
But it's not due to anything he did. It's because of what she's done. She has stood by her husband, honored her side of the marriage vows, and she's raised a pretty great kid in the process.

All while in the spotlight of media scrutiny. Hillary remained dignified and was a good representative of the American people while she was in the White House.

That does take guts, and I do respect her for that. It couldn't have been easy, which is why I don't buy into the crying story. Hillary didn't cry, she's a strong person and has made it through worse than this without shedding tears.

I agree with what a-hole said, but I think he has a different agenda besides being respectful of Hillary Clinton.

19. How can anyone have more respect for her because of his fooling around?
imo its terrible to see a woman stay with a cheating husband just to use him for political purposes. it just tells me she has no respect for herself and i don't have respect for her. you can think my opinion is wrong, but that is my opinion.

24. You aren't part of their marriage,
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 04:01 PM by seasonedblue
and you don't have a clue as to why she stayed with him. You, along with the rest of us, have no idea why they married in the first place, or what the real foundation of their marriage is. I think your opinion is not only wrong, but I find it self-righteous and sanctimonious. Oh throw in sexist too, for thinking that you can define the rules that another woman should abide by in her marriage.

Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 12:07 AM by loveangelc
I do not have respect for a woman who I believe has stayed with her husband for political purposes when we KNOW he's been cheating on her since they first became married. I don't understand how its sexist for me to say that. Everything against Hillary is not sexist. I would have no respect for a man who puts up with his wife constantly cheating on him because he believes he can use her to get a job, just as I do not have much respect for Hillary. No, I do not know everything about their marriage, but I know enough that I can see what their marriage is based on: political power, imo.

25. I think a lot of marriages are meaningless
Human nature won't change in terms of guys wanting to mess around and women marrying them anyway. Personally, I think it's all entirely personal to them so it does not effect my opinion one way or another.
