Will it change your primary vote? Will it change your vote in November?

3. They can vote for bill which originate in the House
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 02:57 PM by Freddie Stubbs
After a bill passes the House it is sent to the Senate for consideration. Some of those bills die in committee, others are brought to the floor for a vote. Look at how many House bills they have voted on:

10. But it has to be introduce as a Senate Resolution thus it would be called SR
and when it moves to conference it becomes a Joint Resolution.

But A senator can not vote on a House Resolution.

2. probably not.
I don't like to judge based on specific bills usually.

Because people attach so many riders that have nothing to do with the title of the bill, it's hard to tell, sometimes, what people are actually voting for and against.

7. Won't affect my vote. It's a pretty benign bill.
It's currently in committee for those asking.

All it does is authorize a bipartisan commission to look into how we investigate and pursue terrorist groups within the US (and gather similar information from allies such as the UK, Australia, etc). It's a think tank bill. It doesn't investigate terrorists, and doesn't appear to threaten any civil liberties. This commission will report back and make recommendations of how we can better fight terrorism, but has no power to institute changes on its own.

8. The ideas in it are declarative and frightening. Just because it's being sent to a think tank first
doesn't dampen the bill's intent.

11. It isn't being sent to a think tank. It creates a think tank.
The bill's intent is to study terrorism. Not investigate terrorist activities, not spy on Americans. It doesn't threaten civil liberties at all. The commission has no authority to enact any of the measures it recommends, and the bill has overwhelming bipartisan support.

Any candidate's support of this bill is irrelevant to the decision I make Feb 5th. A no show wouldn't bother, either, unless the unlikely event this comes down to one vote.
