My Letter to Chuck Todd and Others About Corporatist Bias In Covering "Three Way" Democratic Race!
Dear Mr. Todd et al.,

I have been watching your ongoing analysis of the Democratic Presidential campaign closely. You have perpetrated an ongoing bias in favor of Clinton and Obama since Day ONE. Your analysis is less than surgical... More like a premeditated autopsy... before the baby is born!

You play up "The Hillary Crying Incident" (w/o investigating if it might have been "pre-meditated" gimmickry on the Clintons' Part) (Did you ever find out who was wanting her to iron shirts?) while COMPLETELY IGNORING THE FACT that Mrs. Clinton in so doing CO-OPTED John Edwards Rhetoric ... about the problems of the people being "personal" to him in the debate? :wtf:

The above is representative of JUST ONE Example of MANY!

John Edwards has been conspicuous by his absence from the conversation in the media. The Mainstream Media's what can only be described as PURPOSEFUL effort to NOT COVER John Edwards IS abominable and a complete abrogation of principles I am certain were part of the ethics taught in Journalism school.

RATHER THAN covering the Democratic Primary You and Your Colleagues are... MANIPULATING and INFLUENCING THE RESULT! The MEDIA, in Particular MSNBC has become a 24/7 Propaganda Outlet! Amazing as it may seem, Rush Limbaugh said exactly that yesterday. :bounce:

You might want to brush up on the role of the press in a Representative Democracy... vs OTHER forms of government?

I Do Understand Who Signs Your Pay Check and It AIN'T Me or ANY Of the citizens of these United States...

It IS... CORPORATE AMERICA!

:eyes: Lets Be Clear, The Interests of Corporate America Are YOUR Priority... They Are Your Employers! The figurative "Cloak" IS and Has Been off of Corporate Media's motivations for some time now. John Edwards as President Will Represent a threat to the heretofore unfettered fortunes made possible by excessively malleable politicians from BOTH Parties to this point.

Perhaps it is time for you and your producers to have a meeting to decide if your professional ethics are in need of an overhaul NOT!

Please... try to be more equitable in your coverage of all three top-tier Presidential candidates for the 2008 Democratic nomination.

John Edwards has been, and continues to be, as viable a candidate as either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, and he has in large part been ignored by NBC and the other major media outlets.

By IGNORING JOHN EDWARDS and Cutting Him whenever opportunity presents, the MSM sycophants know that they are DAMAGING John Edward's Fund raising!

This IS Blatant Manipulation of Outcome! :smoke:

P. S. When... are you going to begin asking Obama some tough questions? If and When John Edwards retreats?

Back in November of 2007, New York Times public editor, Clark Hoyt, pointed out the disparity between coverage given to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and that given to John Edwards. This unfortunate reality runs counter to the needs of free elections in a healthy democracy. We Have as you are all aware, A Corporatist form of government in which the "press" so- called plays its... pivotal role.

As you know, John Edwards earned second place in the Iowa Caucuses, ahead of Sen. Clinton.

Why are your readers still getting the same Obama-Clinton two-horse race reporting from you?

Please see: http://uspolitics.about.com/b/2008/01/09/delegate-count-update.htm This is not fair to your readers, and it certainly is not fair to Sen. Edwards.

Sen. Edwards continues to be a formidable opponent for both Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton, and he offers a powerful voice for shaping the messages of this campaign. Despite the refusal of NBC/MSNBC and the other media outlets to acknowledge him as such, John Edwards still presents a substantial threat to the other two leading candidates, and to the extent that he draws votes away from either one of them, he will play a major role in shaping this race.

Only 2% of the votes have been counted, yet by your standard as The Keepers and Dispensers of ... MOMENTUM, "The Press" Controls the Eventual Outcome. :eyes:

Why I waste my time But... I'll ask anyway, since short of revolt this is the ONLY recourse at our disposal...

Please avoid artificially influencing the outcome of this election by filtering and "editorializing" your coverage of Sen. Edwards or the other candidates. All the major candidates deserve to be seen and heard by the American voters, and the American voters deserve to have all the information available to them when making their decision.

By omitting a substantial amount of Edwards coverage in the run-up to Iowa and New Hampshire, and by continuing this error of omission following his second-place finish in Iowa, you have made NBC/MSNBC a player in this story, which, I am told, is a well-established "no-no" for journalists. Pesky ETHICS AGAIN! Manipulating the election coverage to minimize a very credible contender, who received a competitive number of delegates from his second place showing in Iowa and third place showing in NH is unethical, as well as unpatriotic... And who remains in CLOSE CONTENTION IN THE DELEGATE COUNT is counter to the context and content of The United States Constitution!

Please DO NOT deny your viewers/readers the comprehensive coverage they must have to make an informed decision in the 2008 Presidential election, and please do not put a black mark on the good names of NBC and MSNBC.

:bounce: For your consideration: A Rasmussen Report this week shows Edwards in a virtual tie with Barack Obama for second place nationally -- http://politicalinsider.com/2008/01/is_edwards_surging.html

A recent CNN poll validates what the Rasmussen Reports polling has shown throughout most of 2007, that John Edwards is the most electable of the Democrats in head-to-head match-ups with all the GOP contenders. In fact, according to this recent CNN poll, Sen. Edwards was the only Democrat to beat all the GOP candidates.

Additionally, John Edwards has the lion's share of union members backing him, with over three million workers from the United Steelworkers, United Mineworkers, United Brotherhood of Carpenters, SEIU Councils in twelve states, Communication Workers of Nevada and Arizona and Transportation Workers of America, among others.

Sen. Edwards remains the only candidate to have been endorsed by a national environmental organization, Friends of the Earth Action. John Edwards also won the MoveOn.org national vote for having the best, most comprehensive plan for the environment and halting global warming at the time of Al Gore's worldwide Earth Day concert event in 2007.

:eyes: The lack of media coverage of John Edwards is well-documented in a recent report by the Project for Excellence in Journalism:

http://www.journali sm.org/node/ 8196

John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama are all still in contention for this Democratic nomination, and, a s a guardian of our free press, it is your duty to cover it that way. Please let the voters have all the information and balanced coverage they need to make the best decision possible in this 2008 election.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely, AMERICA

May John Edwards Triumph Over Pre-Meditated Adversity Fully Funded By Corporate America! Go John Edwards Please Be Generous and Contribute to the Edwards Campaign. We Must Stand Up for Him to Enable John and Elizabeth To Continue to Stand for Us! :)

2. Kitty, you might want to short this a tad - corp media types have notoriously short attention spans.
But, thank for the great effort!

3. They aren't ignoring him any more than the people are:
For example:

South Carolina
Obama - 44 percent
Clinton - 31 percent
Edwards - 15 percent

Rest assured that the people of South Carolina know who Edwards is and know a lot about him - with our without national media coverage - and they're still ignoring him.

Face it, he isn't all that popular.
