My terms for a Kerry vote this fall
Kerry must be my kind of politician, one with a solid liberal voting record.

Kerry must have a great deal of Foreign Policy experiance.

Kerry must have a solid base in domestic economic and social policy.

Kerry must have the know-how to wring what he wants out of Congress.

Kerry must be pro-choice.

Kerry must support a rollback of the tax cuts for those with incomes in excess of 200,000 a year.

Kerry must have a good plan for further UN involvement in Iraq, reconstruction, and self-government.

Kerry must have a health care plan that will cover the vast majority of Americans.

Kerry must be supportive of America's Veterans.

Kerry must be articulate and intelligent, yet in touch with the average American.

Kerry must be able to defeat the incumbent in the general election.

Kerry must win a broad base of support throughout the Democratic party.

If he meets all these conditions, he'll get my vote. Wait, he already has...

Peepers

4. Kerry must have a (D) after his name, and a pulse
OK, that's done -- although listening to him speak sometimes, the second one is debatable.

(Putting flame-retardant suit on now)

18. He doesn't need a pulse
Hell, if Mel Carnahan can get elected to the Senate after his death, why couldn't a Presidential candidate? I'll vote for any Democrat for President, up to and including an inanimate carbon rod.

24. He doesn't need a D at the end of his name either
All he needs is for it NOT to be "Bush"

5. He's looking pretty good,
except on this point:

"Kerry must win a broad base of support throughout the Democratic party."

He has only done this for passive voters. He hasn't actually done that great of a job in getting a broad base of activists and certainly the 'Net community to climb on board in a robust way (that is, in an activist way) for him.

I am turning toward Kerry, but he needs to pick on up the Dean and Clark threads and really help realize the kind of participatory mass-local politics they manage to get going.

6. You just defined "electability." Thanks!
Kerry is strong in all issues areas important to most voters; hence, he is "electable."

I made a chart of issues and candidates last September, and JK topped every category! I was surprised when I learned how liberal he was/is!

9. Kerry must have the courage to vote "no" on DOMA
Even in an election year with his seat on the line.
John
But he already did that in 1996 -- the only senator to do so.

13. Kerry must fully fund education
Support child care programs and early childhood education. Yep, he received the "Zero to Three" Association's "Achievement Award" for work on early childhood development issues in 1998.

15. I hate John Kerry.
The only way that I will vote for John Kerry is if he RENOUNCES HIS SKULL AND BONES AFFILITATION and tell us what it means that he and Bush are both members of that group.

Tim Russert asked them both, and they said that they can't say anything about it because it's a secret.

Well, you don't deserve my vote then.

Also, his wife will have to come clean as well. She was the daughter of a member of Skull and Bones, one of her stepfathers or something was a member of Skull and Bones as well, according to the guy who wrote the book "AMERICAN DYNASTY," about Bush. He said it when he was on C-Span a few weeks ago.

I'm not voting in a fluke election between two bonesmen who are more concerned about keeping things secret than being open and honest.

He must be Satan incarnate! Everyone knows that fraternities are evil!

I'm always surprised when I see LaRouche talking points coming out of people here at DU.

22. OMG, how INCORRECT YOU ARE!
Skull and Bones is more than just a stupid college fraternity!

It is an elite secret society, and it has been historically involved in espionage, drug smuggling, racism, financial ties to the Nazi party, and illegal corporate dealings. It is more than a stupid college fraternity!

I am willing to overlook the fact that the last 3 U.S. Presidents have come from Yale, and Kerry would have made four, but he has not chance of winning, but I'm not going to overlook this Skull and Bones crap!

If it was nothing but a college fraternity, then how come everytime that Tim Russert asks the question about it, Kerry and Bush say, "I CAN'T SAY ANYTHING, IT'S A SECRET."

It's because it's more than a college fraternity, and they know it, and they know that most people are too simple-minded to be offended by it, but I'm not...

25. Clearly, you're not familiar with fraternities
Members aren't supposed to reveal the traditions of the group. It's like the Freemasons (oooh... are they running the world too?)

It's a frat.
