www.johnedwards.com gets my vote
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 04:43 AM by twenty4blackbirds
The first page of www.johnedwards.com provides me with information upfront with no delays. It clearly lists his priorities. It has easy navigation from the main page.

The first page of www.dennis4president.com is much the same  but lists one goal; when I click it I am taken to a solicitation link without any link to the Constitution at all  sneaky sneaky sir.

The first page of www.hillaryclinton.com and www.barakobama.com have the one same flaw: Their front page solicits joinees before even providing any substantial invitation about why people should join. It feels like a sales pitch, and I don't like that.

www.johnedwards.com lists all the information I need on the front page, no excess click-throughs. It has the rss link, the Privacy Policy for joinees, how to contact their team, how to register to vote, and a link for Español.     And a search engine. And their words are in Text! not an image  No Terms of Service though  It does support Creative Commons

www.dennis4president.com has no Terms of Service nor Privacy Policy but has Contact Us on their front page :thumbsdown:

www.hillaryclinton.com has a Terms of Service and also Privacy Policy and contacting their team linked from the frontpage.

www.barakobama.com has no such thing as Privacy Policy or Terms of Service or contact their team from the front page.

I do not need to go through to a second page on www.johnedwards.com to access his substance; it's there on the first page. Brilliant!

www.dennis4president.com has not much of substance imo  a search engine  discrete solicitation (apart from "Defend the Constitution") Text links  American English site only

Second page of www.hillaryclinton.com is full of sales pitch and no substance. Join Donate Fan Depressing </Marvin the Android>  It does have a link to information in another language, but the link is an image not a text.:thumbsdown: No search engine

Second page of www.barakobama.com is all pitch about "change" but no substance on what needs changing in Washington - the lobbying? the high salaries of elected politicians? more blacks than white? more men than women? However it is more discrete about soliciting donations and fans.  Oh, and the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and Contact Us are first seen on this second page. Just mentioning for your information. This site is strictly American English  No search engine

If all that is not superficial enough for you, I dislike the font-style decision on www.barakobama.com - there is no grammatical need for emphasis on 'the' nor 'for'. Really. Please. Get an editor. One that will say "That looks stupid".

So far in my perusal the rating is

www.johnedwards.com

Okay, I've seen enough. The Edwards website designers really understand how the internet works, what I want.

I'm voting for www.johnedwards.com designed by Plus Three. I'm their kind of people.

(on edit: one more   to the appropriate urls)
(second edit to include Kucinich, as requested)

3. "internet neutrality"
Edited on Thu Jan-10-08 04:54 AM by twenty4blackbirds
I'd feel happier if there was a Terms of Service on the edwards front page. Maybe. I'm not sure.

Kucinich doesn't have a ToS either.

I feel that the obama site is being sneaky and not respecting its users, because the front page solicitation asks for privacy information without telling the joinee what the site's usage policy (Terms of Service, including Privacy Policy) is - a "Trust Me" saleman type start. This is the kind of corporate behavior (think shrinkwrapped Microsoft software with Terms of Service on the inside of the box which says "if you open the packaging it means you accept the ToS" but the customer has to open up the box before they see the ToS to read it). It is disrespectful.

The clinton site does allow the joinee to look at this information first, "Look Before You Buy" which respects its users.

In terms of supporting Internet neutrality, none of the sites reviewed scored the perfect 3/3. Rating 'em on ToS, Privacy Policy, Creative Commons.

(edit for precision)

4. The front page asks me to join
Maybe it doesn't ask you to join because you already have and the cookie is set.

Your link to barackobama.com is wrong.

on your credibility in judging internet sites.

5. Thanks for the feedback.
Wish I could edit www.barackobama.com link now. Apologies to all. Please use the link from DU's front page. Today is the first time I viewed www.johnedwards.com and I was pleased I could get info quickly.

6. They have different purposes
Obama's site is designed for activism, Edwards site is designed for education. I didn't look at Hillary's site because I just don't give a shit. However, Obama's site not having a search engine has always bugged me. I can't understand any reason for it not to have one.

7. Different purposes?
Aren't they both vying for the presidential nomination?

11. His site is good, actually. All of the important news on the home page, rather than a crummy splash.

12. I take back some positive things about www.johnedwards.com
sandnsea is right; I accessed the site from a different connection today and it took me to a blasted annoying solicitation page. I am disillusioned in that respect. No ToS, iirc.

I haven't time to review his site again for positive/negatives - it would be downgraded some; but that his site is part of Creative Commons is a big plus because it means someone on his team (if only the webdesigners) understand what the internet is all about - sharing in good spirit, not commercialisation and corporations.
