Imagine how he must feel.

He is a hack actor and a fake redneck, the Gipper and Dubya rolled into one.

I imagine had the GOP not destroyed itself with corruption, infighting, and generally dragging the US down the toilet, he would be doing alot better right now.

There is a power struggle in the GOP right now. Fred would have been compromise. So glad he is going no where.

4. That was the Freeper effect.
It was the Freepers who caused Thompson to run. They were unhappy with the original field and convinced themselves that he was as tough, decisive and energetic as the guy they saw on TV.

There are still some die-hards at Free Republic who are sticking to, and up for, Fred, but most can see what a pitiful candidate he is.

You know, except for Ronnie Ray-gun, the GOP hasn't really had a charismatic candidate in over 50 years. Nixon, Ford, Bush I, Dole, Bush II -- what a bunch of unpleasant men. Some of our guys have been boring, but none has been actually unpleasant.
