Why is anyone surprised that the NH polls were off?
Undecideds were as high as 17%.

Margin of error was generally 5%-6%.

18% of voters decided on primary day.

40% of voters decided in the last three days.

How is ANY pollster going to account for all that?

1. Because they were only off on the Dem side and ALL the polls were wrong for them, not one.

2. Im not convinced they were.
I think they were accurate for when they were taken. Plus there were extenuating circumstances one day prior to the vote.

4. I think it is important to be aware
of potential problems in case this happens again where diebold is used. If it does not happen again I will be happy. I am glad people are keeping an eye on it nevertheless as it might be an issue in the general election.

5. Zogby said the shift happened Sunday night
His Sunday poll showed it much closer than the previous days. It didn't show up because the numbers were rolling.

6. Yeah, I posted a thread on that earlier.
He said that his poll showed it as a two-point race, but the rolling average hid the momentum.

Kind of strange that he didn't mention that at the time. He could have covered both bases by issuing a "warning" that the polls appeared to be taking a major shift. He would have looked like a genius.
