I Just Voted Early In The Texas Democratic Primary
I just voted early in the Texas Democratic Primary. Voting Day is actually March 9th, but early voting goes on through this Saturday (February 28th).

I'll pass on telling who I voted for for President. We need unity here. I will say that I'm angry about being gerrymandered into a congressional district designed to be a rotten borough by Tom De Lay and his stooges. This borough is such that there are no Democrats officially running for the 10th District.

I hope to help a Democrat send the Boosh regime packing this autumn. I hope I can find a suitable Democratic write-in candidate for my district; if not, I'll vote for myself.

1. Was it on a touch-screen machine?
I used those to vote early in the midterms, and later found out that they had been 'miscalibrated' and were recording democratic votes as votes for perry!

6. Different vendor
Austin has a different kind of electronic voting machine than they use in Dallas County. It doesn't use a touch-screen. Makes it harder to "miscalibrate". But I still don't trust 'em.

13. Travis County Voting Machines Made By E-Slate
I believe that Austin and Travis County's electronic voting machines are made by E-Slate. Ours have a rotating wheel and three big buttons in addition to the display screen. They remind me of something made for toddlers by Fisher-Price.

I'm not sure I trust them, either.

2. We got put in District 17, where Chet Edward (D) is being challenged
by Arlene Woghulmuth. I just mailed 52 Dean fliers, sample ballots and County Convention delegate info. We're taking baby steps here in Johnson County, but we're hanging tight.

14. Wohgemuth, Ick!
So that's the district she's running for? Good luck in keeping that one out.

Eeeeyuck!

3. How about Brad Tashenberg for Congress
He's running ads on the cable channels advertising himself as "the MOST conservative candidate running for Congress". The ads have scary pictures of Ted Kennedy, Tom Daschle, Jesse Jackson and Hillary Clinton. He says he'll "protect the rights of the unborn" as the ad shows a picture of a young couple in a hospital delivery room.

Republican primaries in Texas are getting be like the old southern Democratic primaries where candidates tried to out-n****r each other. Republicans here just try to out-Christian, out-conservative each other.

12. He's running a campaign from 10 years ago
He says he'll "take on the liberals in Washington", which sounds like a campaign from 1994. There really aren't a whole lot of liberals left in DC anymore.

4. I should have
I was at the voting supervisors office today. It looked pretty crowded. I'll vote tomorrow since I have to go back and pick up a voter list.

5. Grrr.
I'm in District 10 as well. I talked to the head of the Texas Democrats in Austin, and she said that they couldn't find anybody to run in District 10. Heck, I would have let her put my name on the ballot if I'd have known that.

9. I've got a good friend who is on McCaul's staff
He's a republican, but he's the most moderate of the 10 candidates.

I still cannot belive that District 10 stretches from Austin to Katy (just outside of Houston). It's rediculous. No democrats are even contesting the seat and there are like 9 republicans running because the district has been drawn to perfection.

McCaul's another * guy (he was on *'s 'transition team' and some anti-terrorist team or something).

15. I hope DeLow is driven out of Congress. TX is lost until that happens.
TX and FL are * territory. I moved out of TX years ago, and haven't regretted it for a moment. But because I still have family there, TX's fate is near and dear to me. The TX Repuke corruption is so overwhelming that I doubt anything can be done until we have a Democratic dominated national Senate, House, and Executive.
