antagonism between candidate camps
I just read a thread a few pages back about a sig line picture war going on between Clark and Edwards people. I thought this was unfortunate and uncalled for. This only causes more bad blood between the two camps.

They are not alone in having a fued. Dean and Kerry people have had a long history of conflict going back to last year. And I have taken part in this as well. I am looking forward to when this kind of thing will stop, and everyone can "kiss and make-up" as the goal becomes to ousting Bush.

2. I agree
It's juvenile and counter-productive.

I have my beefs with Edwards, some of it for his campaign tactics, some of it for his policies, some of it for his qualifications (or lack thereof). But I cannot for the life of me understand why one of his supporters found it necessary to add the Clark-out picture to his signature--which is where, as far as I know, the "signature war" started.

I also resent the thread(s) that state or imply that those of us in the Clark/Kerry camp attack Edwards because we are "jealous" or blame him for Clark's campaign problems. I guess it makes them feel better to think there's no rational reason not to support their candidate.

There's nothing wrong with agressive and passionate debate. Lord knows the Clark vs. Dean arguments got pretty heated, to say the least.

But this latest manifestation of the Clark vs Edwards controversy has just gotten silly and rude.

Personally, if you'll pardon the armchair psychology, I think a lot of it stems from 1) Edwards supporters are scared to death that it's just a matter of time before they're in our boat; and, 2) we both see our candidates as rivals for Kerry's VP choice. The former is justified (altho no reason to take it out on Clark). The latter is just dumb, since Kerry will probably pick someone else altogether, and even if not, nothing said here at DU will influence his decision.

Oh yeah, and the whole thing is exacerbated by Trippi's stupid statements about Clarkies abandoning Kerry, which in effect is the same thing as abandoning Clark. That may be what started the uglier aspects of this whole bruhaha.

4. One problem
is there are handful of cyberbullies posting here. They are not exclusive to any particlular camp. They don't really care about issues, uniting or "kissing and making up". They only aim to provoke and torment. Some use fancy words, some are "in your face".

What can you do about it? Probably not much. Just hang in there try hard to keep from being sucked in by one of these posters. If we respond to them we are giving them the attention they want.

Attention is the operative word here...they don't care if it is negative or postive...they just want it.

I have been sucked in a time or two, so I know it easier said than done. I for one have decided to use the ignore feature to make the coming months more tolerable.

5. As an Edwards supporter I wish Edwards fans would take the high road.

I think the Edwards supporters who have the Clark-out sigs need to remove these pics from their sigs because they are poorly representing the Edwards campaign. Most dissappointing is that the pics are appearing in the sig lines of some posters that I genuinely admire. Anyone who has this pic should do what is best for the Edwards campaign. Edwards supporters - be the bigger (wo)man - don't go negative - follow the footsteps of your leader!

The path to the nomination, for Edwards, is more visable than it has ever been. He is a longshot candidate who has overcome obstacles and prevailed because of optimism. Stay positive! It's our time now!

I know it is difficult sometimes to avoid responding to provoking situations, but I think the Clark-out pic is (1) not representative of the optimism and hope of Edwards, the candidate, or of his campaign (2) could rub salt in the wounds of dissappointed Clark supporters (simply not a nice thing to do) (3) not wise in that it may turn off some Clark supporter who is candidate shopping.

edited for clarity.
