Bill Clinton's attack helped Hillary win because it highlighted Obama's record
The big news all day yesterday was Clinton's blistering attack on Obama's record. This was crucial because all day voters were hearing Obama's record, on his signature issue no less, being questioned for probably the first time. Us political junkies knew about that but the rest of America and New Hampshire heard that the first time when it came out of Bill Clinton's lips.

1. Ah. All explained. Everyone rest easy. It was about what the MAN did.
Because people listening to Hillary's husband wouldn't automatically discount him for bias?

2. It "helped"
It was by no means the sole factor. I posted the thread because this view has been lost in all the theories explaining what happened yesterday. It was a smart move by the campaign.

No one aside from political junkies heard that Obama was not Saint Barack on the war until Clinton made his speech. Don't underestimate how huge that was. This is why Obama was getting a free ride from the media for so long, as Bill said.

3. I wish the best for Obama but if he loses the nomination, I think the main
reason is because of his lack of experience. when I talk to people about Obama, they like and support him but they always throw out the "inexperience card". Of course I have to throw George Doofus Bush in their faces. And they nod their head in agreement.

13. And you know who has an incredible amount of experience?
Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney

I usually cite these folks when people talk about how important experience is in governing. And they nod their heads in agreement, too.

4. To an extent
I thought that maybe it might have helped a little, but probably Hillarys emotional moment had more to do with it.

5. Bill is Hillary's attack dog.
She can be herself, stay above the fray, and let a former President call her closest competitor a "Fairytale".

One of the reasons a lot like her. Two for the price of one. Personally, I've lost some respect for Bill. But, If Hillary becomes our nominee, I will be glad he's one our side.

10. Damn! I don't know about you but I fear a husband-wife concurrently LEADING our country.
Our constitutional democracy was NOT meant for such an horrific realization of *political insiders gone wild.* :scared:

12. Oh, I fear it, too.
Hillary getting the Democratic Nod is my worst-case scenario. The dynasty thing is seriously messing up Our Democracy.

7. That with the terror talk, Hillary's version of Bill's lip-bite, the pro
choice protestors who showed up at an Obama event on election day and many other things that occurred on election eve and election day that were not captured in any of the polling.

9. Bill Clinton's attackS on Obama made him petty and caustic. Obama's response was *Presidential*
and mature.

BTW what did you think of "Big Dog" jumping track and blurting out, "I can't make Hillary taller or younger." Also Bill was quoted with words that were interpreted that his DLC campaign did better than wifey? :wow:

The whole business is highly distasteful and these two outbursts will hurt the Clintons' mighty campaign machine in future primaries.

Yes! It will *all* come back to haunt them.

14. I'm sure it will, dear.
Because you're going to bring us so much "unity" and "change."

17. Yes, I'm also sure it will too. Because Obama is the quintessential "Anti-Bush"
1) Intelligent;
2) Young; &
3) Bi-partisan (not a lightning rod both Clintons have proven to be).

11. Hillary did overcome her deficit in the polls to win in NH...
but it wasn't because of Bill's red-faced wild-eyed rant against Obama.

15. No they heard Bill LIE about Obama
That's what they heard. Obama has got to get out there and correct it and be prepared for the next timethe Clintons lie because that's all they do.

16. There was no time for Obama to react
That is another reason why Bill was so shrewd. The merits of his claims can be debated but it definitely helped Hillary yesterday although it was not the sole reason she won.
