Pennsylvania.
On Inside Politics today, they showed a recent PA poll that showed John Kerry at 47 and Bush at 46.

Everyone's talking about the battleground state being Ohio, but if we lose PA and gain Ohio then we're back to square one..

What are your thoughts on how we can keep PA in the Dem column?

2. Im from pa
All dems have to vote-if the voter turnout fails in Philly we lose. If we get a big turnout in philly-plus we make inroads into the philly suburbs-we win. the suburbs have gotten less gop in the last six years. The rwers may have hurt themselves "big time" there with the constitutional amend.,loss of jobs and greenspan and the debt, I can't believe its as close as they say now.

6. Believe me
this state has one of the highest percentages of retired people. Greenspan's little announcement today IS NOT playing well here. I doubt very much that Bush will take this state, come November. Throw a little help to Joe Hoeffel who is going to run against Specter. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a Dem in that seat?

7. On keeping Pennsylvania...
I agree that Philadelphia area turnout is the first key.
The second is how many "Sportsmen for Kerry" bumper stickers go out in Western PA, and making sure every voter sees Kerry on the TV with a gun.

If those two fall into place, it looks good.

If Ohio goes our way, so will Pennsylvania.

P.S. If Edwards pulls it off, then the strategy changes a bit, but it still relies upon turnout in the east and Reagan democrats in the west.

9. Heinz was a popular Republican governor here
even among Democrats. Can't hurt--if the most you can hope for is a moderate Republican type while the New Deal erodes away at an accelerated rate.

12. Senator
They were close.

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry has left the Democratic presidential pack in the dust in Pennsylvania and, in a head-to-head face-off, now leads President George W. Bush 50 – 45 percent among all voters, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

10. Kerry 50 Bush 45

With all do respect to the poll you used, it is not a reputable poll. Quinnipiac about a week ago had Kerry up by 5. Dont worry Dems have won PA 3 times in a row. Unless Bush can make big gains in Philly and Pittsburgh area he wont and cant win. Put PA in your Kerry camp. Keep in mind Kerry hasnt even been here yet and Bush was just here about 10 days ago. Quinnipiac poll polled over 1300 REGISTERED voters, the poll you used only polled 500 ADULTS.

From February 10 – 16, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,356 Pennsylvania registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.7 percent. The survey includes 501 Democrats with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent.

14. Do the populist schtick
Like someone else suggested, "Sportsment for Kerry", show him hunting. Mention that he's catholic over and over. Talk about jobs, the economy, tell the truth about shrub's tax cuts. Don't get drawn into social wedge issues.

15. Exactly
Kerry has a big advantage in PA. His name is Ed Rendell who will delivery 80% of Philly area. Which along with the Pitt area will be game set and match in PA.
