I haven't picked a candidate to support because ... well, why bother?
By the time the primaries roll around to Maryland, one week after Super Tuesday, the nominee would have been picked. The Dem nominee will probably emerge after tonight's vote in NH! So what's the point in rooting for someone?
I'm pissed off because our top-tier frontrunners are being picked by two states that hold 1.5% the population of this country. The rest of us are chopped liver.
On Super Tuesday, the already-obvious nominee will be crowned.
A week later, during the Maryland primaries, the nominee would have already been crowned for one whole week.
I am pissed because
- my vote will be irrelevant,
- ridiculous campaign finance systems, especially the obscene amounts of cash that need to be raised, are not giving other candidates, like Dodd and Biden, a fair chance to make their case,
- media coverage is idiotic,
- we're having another nomination season with no reforms to make the selection processes fairer across the country, even tho' every year, we hear about how the process needs to be fairer. Whose butts do we have to kick about this?!!!
- the current nomination process has ramifications for other primary races. People are less likely to vote in a primary if their pres. nominee has already been picked for them.
- more people aren't as pissed as me!
So, while some in DU engage in inane petty exchanges regarding the top candidates, I'm stewing because so many of us are
totally irrelevant to the nomination process.
Therefore, as a protest vote, I plan to write-in "Higgins Hartmann" for the Dem. President nominee. There's nothing in the Constitution that says we cannot nominate cats.
