Keep that in mind when thinking who you're going to vote for. In debates Obama will be asked about what he's done in the Senate and details of his policies. Part of it will be national security where the answers they give won't be as important as whether they make people "feel" safe. I can see Clinton passing both of those tests with flying colors like she has in the Dem debates so far. I worry about Obama passing them opposite a Romney or McCain or Rudy.

1. If and when Obama gets into the GE...
...the campaign will change. It always does--it happens every 4 years.

8. He'll mention it I'm sure, but it doesn't have the same punch this year
that it did in '04.

25. Hope is not a strategy
when you go into battle you don't hope. Barack is always saying hope hope hope. I am in sales and if you think that hope is going to get you that deal you will be starving. we are going into battle against a very good enemy and they are the republicans. they will turn hope as a childish fantasy. watch them do it.

4. Repetitive. . .ummm I'm not sure if you realize there is a real world out there
The majority of the people attending these speeches are not addicted to the DU, C-SPAN, CNN, FOX, MSNBC et al and are seeing these speeches for the 1st time.

We live in a media age gone wild, but the majority of folks who attend these speeches are hearing for the 1st times. . .they have lives.

5. repetitive?
They all get repetitive. I don't know how many times I heard Edwards, for example, tell the story about the poor girl who needed a transplant. Not knocking him, but it's the same speech over and over because that's how they do it.

Finally, it's your opinion that he doesn't do well in debates. Others will disagree.

9. Yes, Obama's too repetitive.
What he should be doing is wildly flailing around in panic, threatening an Al Qaeda attack one minute while disparaging MLK the next.

14. "Obama isn't very good in debates"
Many focus groups and polls show him winning, or finishing well, in most of the debates. Now, if you're a supporter of another candidate you might think he doesn't do well. Everyone else disagrees.

17. I think Obama is ok at debates.
No, he isn't like Bill Clinton, but I think he's pretty damn good. If you get beyond the uhm, which reminds me of Kennedy's err, he does a pretty good job.

18. Fuck You Whining Clinton Supporters
Obama has better qualifications than Abraham Lincoln. He will make a fine president if elected in November. It's time for the Clintons and Bushes to fade away into the dustbin of history. Good riddance! Obama and Edwards are far superior to the corporate sell-outs on the Clinton team!

19. debates are useful, but not vital
Kerry is probably the best debater the party has ever put up, and he trounced Bush three straight times. It didn't help him though.

20. First time running effect
If it beats him in the primaries that's all it will be. Don't make it sound like permanent character flaws. John Edwards was called repetitive last time against Kerry. Debate awkwardness is also a sign of first time newbie "flaws". And he wasn't that bad per se. I worry about how he will get over that and not heed lousy advice in the near future, but I don't think he is all that "flawed". He is a great speaker and most of the nation after all the campaigning only ends up with a vague general knowledge and a few sound bites plastered over the character they trust. A lot of the reasons of the voters are ill-considered and wrong too. There is something a lot more substantial and emotional underneath.

22. Senator Obama
is very good at debating. So are Senator Clinton and former Senator Edwards. Each of the three is far superior to any of the republicans.

It will be nice when he doesn't have people like Hillary lying about him on stage. He can talk any of the Repugs down on the mat and put a boot on their neck. They ain't got shit.
