5. No one
The country is pretty evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats. You're going to see a lot of Huckabee vote in the south especially.

7. Define "landslide"
Sorry, it is one of those vague, meaningless terms that gets trotted out every four years. Please, be precise.

17. That I would define as a landslide
:hi:

Yeah, I'm being naggy. In recent years, "landslide" has come to mean winning both the electoral vote and the popular vote in the same election, and anyone who wins by however small a margin has a "clear mandate."

21. That's ridiculous. Espeially since no Democratic candidate has more than 25 states available to win
Looking at the electoral map will bring you guys back to earth.

23. It is not ridiculous.
The right candidate athe right runing make against a weak republican and a splintered GOP makes it possible.

I give up on only one state and that is UTAH.

8. Centrist Obama wins big, Democrat Clinton squeaks through, Anti-Everything Edwards gets destroyed.
Richardson, on the other hand, would unite the Democratic Party and win handily.

35. Richardson would unite what ????

Richardson dug his grave own grave when he ignorantly stated that homosexuality is a choice. It's the activists who man the phones and stuff the envelopes. And I'll bet a lot of them will grab their partners hand and sit home in a general election if Richardson is involved.

I do think Richardson has served this country well. However, he completely alienated a key Democratic demographic. The highest office he can aspire to now is Senator.

is Obama.

Clinton would be a squeaker.

Edwards would be a squeaker- despite the delusions of the Edwardians.

24. Edwards would do as well as Obama, better in certain states because of racism (sadly)
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 09:42 AM by Leopolds Ghost
Which sadly still exists in this country and will continue to exist for a long time...

Of course I'm terribly opposed to Edwards' non universal universal health care plan so
I don't have a fave candidate, m'self...

It depends on who their running against. Obama would be able to neutralize the racist
vote running against certain candidates, energized black voters would actually matter
in certain states depending on the popularity of the Republican candidate and their
willingness to go to the mat to suppress the black vote (i.e. how mobilized are the
Main Street Republicans and evangelicals to "let Obama win" by not mobilizing
AGAINST heavy African American turnout against an unpopular Republican heir
to an unpopular president?)

18. Obama has the best potential given how he is bringing new people in
and doing well among independent voters who you will need to win in a 40 state landslide.

19. There will be no landslide. That doesn't happen in non-incumbent presidential elections anymore.
And the idea that Obama will win in a landslide is delusional. You Barackers are not seeing reason.

He's winning Democrats and Democratic-leaning Independents right now. Remember that.

Edwards is getting smoked and wait until Obama completely puts him away in the state where he was born- in less than two weeks.

It'll be the end of Edwards interesting and unaccomplished political career.

30. None
In the current political climate, I don't believe it would be likely for any of our potential Democratic candidates to win in a landslide against any of the likely Republican candidates. It will be a very close race regardless of who both of the parties' nominees are.

34. My favorite is Edwards ...

But from Obamas polling and Oprah's vocal support, I think it's pretty clear that Obama would be unstoppable in a general election. Anyone who would never vote for a black man would never vote for a Democrat anyway.
