Barack Lobbyist Connections... Questions MUST Be ASKED, AND ANSWERED!
This is a note from someone I know...with some very disturbing information. The progressives overlook the Patriot Act votes....Bankruptcy bill votes.....maybe this will bring them back to reality?

Dear XXXXXXX,

Yes, I am very concerned about Obama's LOBBYIST connections. In New Hampshire it seems his campaign mgr. is one of the biggest lobbyists in NH. In FLA, the first people that sponsored a big donor fundraiser for Obama was Stacey Ritter and Russ Klenet who are one of the biggest lobbyists in the state of florida and sold Broward and I suppose other counties the ES&S iVotronics.:eyes:

Best,

XXXX XXXXX

ahhhh....nice. people..... The Cost could be unfathomable. :eyes:

:nuke:

John Silvestro and his small private business, LHS Associates, has exclusive programming contracts for ALL New Hampshire voting machines, which combined will count about 81 percent of the vote in the primary. And as to Super Tuesday and beyond: Silvestro also has the programming contracts for the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont.:eyes:

Silvestro IS the New Hampshire chain of custody in New England -- Or at least, a very large component in it. :eyes:

1. Two points.
1) Every candidate has employees with these type of backgrounds.

2) Not all lobbyists are bad people.

7. LOL!
Edwards takes lobbyist money- just not DC lobbyists.

And I actually know a couple of lobbyists here in Vermont that are very good guys and have been working on changing our civil union law into marriage. They also work on environmental issues, and *gasp* represent drug companies and a national department store chain. That's how it works here. duh.

8. Of course there are good lobbyists. I doubt anyone would mind
our candidates having staff members who at one time worked for an environmental group as a lobbyist, for instance.

It is important know the specifics of just who past employers were. And such information should be made public. And this applies to all, not just those paid to be lobbyists.

A former lobbyist for a group such as The National Wildlife Federation (which may or not have paid lobbyists, but for the sake of argument let's assume it does) is a far different animal from someone who represented Blackwater.

2. Bwahahaha
biggest lobbyists in NH? That's an oxymoron, kittywittums. Do you have a clue what lobbying is like in Concord? First of all the leg is very part time, and lobbyists (and there aren't many) have all kinds of clients, from pro-gay marriage groups to pharma. They don't buy off legislators. It's an open process. And they don't write legislation.

Biggest lobbyist in NH:

state of New Hampshire? If so, I agree.

Or does it just mean he or she was based in New Hampshire and lobbying for private groups? That is a totally different matter, and we should know exactly what groups the person represented. There is as much or more sleazy lobbying going on in our state legislatures as there is in Washington.

13. Lobbyists in states like VT and NH lobby their respective statehouses
both are part time legislatures. Lobbyist up here represent various interests because it's done on such a small low key scale and in such a transparent way. The lobbyists i know hang at the statehouse cafeteria an nab legislatures over coffee or they ring them up at home- all our legislators have their home phone numbers available to the public. I have never seen any sleazy lobbying in VT- and I know all the folks doing the lobbying. I can't speak so definitively about NH, but I understand it's much the same.

14. Thanks for the information on Vermont. In the states where I have lived,
it is a very different; but it doesn't surprise me such is not the case in Vermont. I wish we could have some feedback from someone in New Hampshire.

12. WHY does Edwards have lobbyists on his national finance committee?
Loyal Edwards Fundraiser Killed Ethanol Initiative In Wisc.

Scott Tyre, a Wisconsin lobbyist who sits on John Edwards’ national finance committee, has worked to kill ethanol mandates in Madison. In fact, Tyre’s own firm, Capitol Navigators, advertises his efforts to tank that bill next to quotes from longtime Edwards loyalists Ed Turlington and Nick Baldick praising Tyre’s “work ethic” and “brain power.”

“Scott is regarded as one of the top contract lobbyists at the Capitol. When it comes crunch time and you need votes as we did during the ethanol mandate debate in the 2005-06 session, Scott was one of the first persons I called for help. His contacts and lobbying skills are certainly one of the reasons we were able to kill the bill in the Senate.”
–Erin Roth, Executive Director of Wisconsin Petroleum Council/Division of the American Petroleum Institute

Tyre is an Edwards bundler, according to Public Citizen.

Edwards has said on the campaign trail that ethanol is one key to moving the country toward energy independence.

snip

But Tyre’s anti-ethanol efforts — his firm has also represented the American Petroleum Institute — contradict Edwards’ campaign trail pitch for expanded production of renewable energy sources. And Edwards, as we all know, slams lobbyists at every diner, community center, debate and school rally. It seems perplexing at best then that he’d have one on his team who is fighting his very policies.

16. In the interest of the full story, and in case you might be interested........
Not quite as you tried to paint it....... and thanks for posting it, because now I know the rest of the story.

This article sniped from the DesMoine Regisiter:

Edwards acknowledged knowing the man, Scott Tyre of Wisconsin. "Scott Tyre is a friend of mine and a supporter of mine," he said. He added that his campaign checks all donations against a list of registered federal lobbyists, and returns any money from them.

An Edwards aide later said Tyre is not a federal lobbyist but may lobby in Wisconsin. The aide, Mark Kornblau, said state lobbyists are not prohibited from contributing to the campaign because they would not lobby the White House. However, the Web site for Tyre's firm, Capitol Navigators, describes it as "a full-service public affairs firm delivering the very best in lobbying and grassroots services at the state and federal levels."

Clinton's campaign said Tyre's company's clients have included the American Petroleum Institute, and they noted that Edwards has railed against the influence of oil-company lobbyists.
