1. He did bring a lot to the table.
I was really bummed when he left. In part because of him, I started to believe again.

but I'm missing Clark just as much now. It's just not the same without the colorful ones. I don't enjoy television nearly as much.

22. Two things you might try...
You might try setting your avatar to: personal/133054.gif
This doesn't work for me but it may work for you as a
donating member.

Alternatively, you can *CERTAINLY* download that avatar
image to your computer (right click on the avatar and pick
the correct menu item) and then upload that image back to
DU as your personal avatar.

Meanwhile, this avatar is pretty generic but I wonder what
the ethics would be of hijacking a really-customized avatar?

15. !!! GET OVER IT !!!...

as Kerry would say and is probably thinking right now.

I personally miss Dean tremendously. I've been in his camp since the Summer of 2002. Tweety (over the weekend) had a great wrap up at the end of his show where he said (paraphrasing), "Be proud Dean followers. You were a part of political history, and you can tell your kids you were a Deanie and they will look at you in awe... ". I totally agree with him.

Or something like that.

The worse part is now we are left (ironically enough) with an unelectable candidate (Kerry - unless he picks Edwards as his VP - you'll see I'm right in November) which (to quote a couple ABBers here - some Nader and third party hating folks) that a vote for Kerry as Nominee is a vote for Bush in November.

As an aside: I wonder how many here are going to blast me because of my subject line w/o reading my message?

23. What Tweety Said
about Dean:

http://www.msnbc.com/modules/chrismatthews/022104.asp
(at the bottom)

Commentary: Howard Dean, a new American maverick

CHRIS MATTHEWS, host: As I've said before on this show, the greatest thing about politics--being in it, covering it, caring about it--is to be out there all alone, then some day be proven right. Maybe I'm a maverick and maverick-lover by nature. I find that there's nothing so ennobling as the leader who risks all to stand for what he or she believes, to speak out when it seems everybody in the world is saying, `You're wrong. Go away. Shut up. Give up.' Say this for Howard Dean, the five-time governor of Vermont, he took a stand that the occupation of Iraq was wrong with American history and wrong with--for America's future. He asked Americans to say so.

Former Governor HOWARD DEAN: You have that power. You have the power! You have the power!

MATTHEWS: I know a lot of people disagree with Dean's tough position, but somewhat smaller numbers still do. They had their say; he's gone from the race. The people I want to talk to here and now are those whose hearts once soared at the very notion of this man, this former governor from one of the original 13 colonies, showing all the passion and ideals of an early American revolutionary, a real Green Mountain boy come out of the Vermont hills to fight the good fight. To those who joined Dean's rebel cause, I salute you. From the time of Samuel Adams and Thomas Paine and, yes, John Brown, and Martin Luther King, the people who have moved this country have not been those marching to the American band, but those gutsy few out ahead. You Dean kids of all ages can now take your place in that proud tradition. You can tell you kids that you were with Dean.

17. I miss Dean so much---my heart was in that campaign
and since he stopped campaigning, it's hard for me to get politically excited again. I miss hearing him say, "Send George Bush back to Crawford, Texas" and all the bats, the sense of community with the campaign.

20. I've been wondering if the race lost its electricity for me just because
I'm a Dean supporter, or if it feels that way for non-Dean supporters also. I miss wanting to watch C-Span at 2 a.m. As badly as I want to see bush* removed, politics feels like just politics again. I'll still follow it more than most people do, and get excited at certain times, but Dean was so full of life and so damn human that it could never be the same without him.

25. I know what you mean...
Kerry or Edwards occasionally say something I go, YEAH about but with Dean I did it all the time. It was exciting. Even when he wasn't doing so well in the primaries, he was in there fighting. Plus it was exciting thinking about how great the country could be!

Except for the occasional Nader Spider scurring across the canvas to make the painters squeal.

So - what are we going to do about it?

I'm supporting his efforts to help us stay informed, somewhat organized, and politically active in our communities. How about you?

Doctor Governor Dean will return to the public arena if he sees we are hanging tough, I believe.

27. Me too! The debate has gone downhill.
I can't believe we're focused on the rights of gays to marry.

Of course they have the right. Equal rights, under the law. End of discussion.

Now let's talk about the real issues.

I'm so bored with Kerry and Edwards I'm getting less interested and then I feel less informed. Dean and Clark added so much color and excitment, how did this happen!?

31. I miss him too.
Now that he's gone, I'm experiencing that horrible phenomena known as voter apathy. I used to be glued to the news, excited about the important issues Dean was bringing to the table -- now I find the Primaries just terribly boring. Mostly I miss Dean's straight-forward way of speaking, and his eagerness to fight the good fight and speak up for US when no one else dared.

32. i miss him, too, but he really is still here. and on the ballots.
it is still very important to vote for him, to get as many delegates as possible to the convention. his - our - input must be seriously considered in party platform discussion.
