Hillary today
Say what you want about her. Lord knows she is not my favorite candidate. But I think today we saw a bit of what we should have seen from her all along. She was, for a couple of minutes, a person. Sadly, though, that kind of genuine behavior does nor come naturally to her. And the insincere "canned message" vibe many people get (rightly or wrongly) from Hillary has been her biggest weakness as a candidate.

I have real policy differences with Hillary. So, I am not saying that she could have gotten my support if she had been wiling to let her guard down and be more "real" all along. But I sure wish I had seen this kind of passion, sincerity and humility from her a lot earlier.

That said: I am getting very, very excited about Obama.

2. No, Lucky is not a jerk.
Just someone who bought the media message about Hillary a long time ago.

And that's pathetic.

3. Oh, come on now
Just because I don't like Hillary as much as Obama, that makes me a media-entranced zombie? Get real.

We all know that Hillary's biggest problem has been her unwillingness or inability to show her real self and speak from the heart when it counts. She too often gives carefully crafted answers that sound too much like, well, carefully crafted answers.

I have no doubt that, one on one, she is a real person. But that does not come across on the campaign trail. That's not the media's fault. Whereas Bill Clinton was one of the best campaigners in presidential history, Hillary simply lacks the same "something" that Bill had when he ran. That does not make her a bad person. It just makes her a lesser candidate than her husband was.

But, hey, I never said that I don't respect her for being out there. It really MUST be hard to face what she has faced in this campaign. She would have to be made of stone not to be affected by the mean-spirited nonsense aimed at her.

As for Obama being a "media invention," I don't agree. I met Obama years ago when he was a nobody running for state senate in Illinois. He struck me as a good guy then and I retain my good impression of him.
