Olbermann hitting Hillary hard for "playing the Al Qaeda card"
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 08:28 PM by flpoljunkie
He noted up front how quickly she pivoted from "tears" to "fear."

29. He WAS a shill for the Clintons. Even after she lost Iowa. It ended today.
He hates when the Repubs. play the fear card as you may know. SHE played it and he noticed. Good for him for calling her on it.

34. He was NEVER a shill for the Clintons. That was the figment of many DU'ers' imaginations.
Now he says flat-out negative things about her, and all of a sudden they're saying "He changed his tune."

HE didn't change his tune.

...except that I'm not. Keith has become a self-important blowhard. He's not as bad as O'Reilly yet, but he's getting there. I realize that some depend upon him to tell them what to think, but I'm not among their number. He can pontificate all he likes. And those want to swoon over him can swoon.

I won't notice. I promise. :)

40. Hillary was never "his girl." Ever.
No one was "his." Ever.

He's got integrity and he's consistent when it comes to covering the candidates. As hard as that is for some people to believe.

He didn't need to "see the light" because he was never favoring Hillary to begin with.

46. I disagree...
I still watch Keith every night, even though up 'til tonight he DEFINITELy was in the tank for Hillary AND Bill Clinton. He said as much to Matthews when Matthews, one night, said something like, "She seemed genuinely friendly. You might start to warm up to her." He replied something like, "START to warm up to her?"

But he's been railing against RWers using the fear card, always pointing it out, showing time lines of the nexus between fear and politics, etc. So when SHE did it, he apparently jumped off her bandwagon.

74. If he was "definitely in the tank for Hillary and Bill Clinton,"
how come in the back of his latest book, he thanks not only them but John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich and I don't even remember who else?

How come he doesn't vote? How come, when he's been asked who he'd like to see as president, his answer is Elizabeth Edwards?

Some partisan.

Yeah, I remember the "START to warm up to her?" comment, but never did he imply that she was the only candidate he was ever "warm" to.

He's very consistent about disliking it when candidates play the fear card. He doesn't care who they are. You just saw evidence of it tonight. That was all. He was never on her "bandwagon" any more than he was on anyone else's.

So he thanked Edwards, too, and LIKES the Edwardses. Did he thank Obama? Why did he repeatedly mention, after Obama's win in IA, that it was only REALLY a one point victory among Dems.? Why didn't he have any good words for Obama that night?

55. I just got off the phone with an upset friend.
He turned off KO for the first time ever (as did I) because he was so angry. He was angry about the entire Hillary report but in particular about the MLK comments.

My friend is a historian - he has always admired KO for his grasp of history. Tonight KO lied. As my friend said - as children we never forget the first time our parents lie to us (and we know it). Tonight KO lied to us. He knows better than what he said.

My friend also suggested that KO probably does not find Tweety nearly as offensive as we thought he did.

KO is on script now. He should not be any more of a problem. Obama's path has been totally and completely cleared by the corporate media.

On a personal note - I am speeding up my plans to move from the east coast to the middle of the country. I will feel safer there.

48. I think he feels defensive - but can't identify the feeling.
The corporate media is not in any manner doing their job of vetting Obama.

Hillary has to run a national political campaign against the "men" of her party, against the corporate media that is sponsoring Obama, and she has to try to help that same corporate media do their reporting/vetting job. She is just one woman.

The lack of due diligence by the media leaves it up to Hillary to bring up Obama's green factor. I do not want Obama in the oval in case of any sort of emergency - I have no reason to believe he will/can make a reasoned decision. He's got nothin'. Same as Bush.

and launch invasions against a country when the issues are being effectively dealt with sans massive violence. Keith should know better. This country isn't going to elect an anti-war candidate, they will elect a smart one that prefers a multilateral approach to dealing with rogue nations. I'm sure I can pick out some tough words from Obama on terrorism if I wanted to.

76. I am thoroughly and entirely amazed by what I see here.
Seems like a lot of people just loooooove KO until he says something negative about THEIR candidate, or doesn't say anything on a given night about their candidate. Then, all of a sudden, he's an MSM media whore, a shill, a liar, a fellow of Tweety, a repeater of talking points, a robot programmed by his corporate masters to parrot only what they want him to say...He was never any good, he was just a fake, a phony, a mirage...they'll never watch him again.

Never does it seem to have occurred to some people that maybe, just maybe, what KO said can be explained by one simple fact: that he's an independent thinker who isn't always going to agree with ANYONE on everything.

That when he disagrees with them on something, it's not necessarily because he's following orders from someone else. Maybe, perhaps, just maybe, he's (steel yourself for the shock here) thinking for himself.

Oh, but noooo. That would explain everything too easily. Except that some people would have to realize that it's possible for a perfectly intelligent human being with integrity to agree with them about A, but disagree with them about B. And if they tried to wrap their brains around THAT concept, their poor little heads would explode.

The last frickin one .... thank you Berry Bush. Not posting much in DU lately, just kind of enjoying reading the adult responses to all these kids bickering in here. Too funny. Peace.

81. God..........
Thank you for your sane comments. It never ceases to amaze me the number of really immature people who post on this board these days.

83. Thank you for an excellent post!
:toast:

Keith has always slammed people who play the fear card. Why would he (or should he) let Hillary off the hook?
