This phoniness (pun) is what turns people off to Hillary
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0108/Bill_does_a_Rudy.html

In the middle of a town hall meeting for Hillary Clinton’s campaign in Henniker, the former president interrupted his remarks to answer a cell phone call from his wife.

snip

"I’m at your meeting here,” the former president said. “I’ll them that. OK — I love you!”

-----

Look, I don't doubt they love each other. I don't doubt they call each other.

But come on now...

Is it a coincidence that Hillary is making this major push to soften her image and just happens to accidentally interrupt Bill Clinton at HER meeting with two phone calls (Bill didn't answer the first one)? Is it a coincidence that Bill's phone was not on silence? What does Bill mean only his wife has his number - doesn't Chelsea? He had to point out it was her.

This is not the way to go about softening her image. I really don't understand what her campaign is doing.

Hillary already comes across as being too calculated and too prepackaged. This feeds into that. Coupled with her nearly breaking down into tears on the same day...

I'm not one to fault someone for being emotional. I like a little emotion. But all of this taken as a whole calls each part into question.

I'd say people interested in behind the scenes workings of campaigns give a flying f*ck. I'm more curious as to what the hell their strategy is.

But also, things like this make her appear so calculating they backfire.

So you really believe that Bill accidentally left his cell phone on, Hillary wasn't aware Bill was in HER event even after he didn't answer her phone call, he informed the audience it was Hillary, and apparently spoke loud enough for everyone to hear their conversation?

No, sorry. The campaigns aren't doing this, people like you are.

19. Damn looking at Obama and you can call anybody put on.
To sell his bio he MADE UP PEOPLE AND INCIDENTS. When a researcher confronted him with the facts he had found out, He said what was the big deal he used composites to round out the story. THIS WAS A BIO and he used composites. He was friends with a gay basher and pushed the feelings of the guy. He now wants to curtail abortion. He has health care lobbyist working in his campaign. He is friends with a gangster and accepted a 300,000 discount to buy his 1million dollar plus home. (And he is dissing Edwards for having a big house).

He flames Hillary for voting for a resolution to let bush search for WMD and bush took off and invaded a country. He flames her because she said at the time they believed bush. Then HE turns around, gives an exclusive interview to the Chicago Trib and says YEAH HE BELIEVES BUSH WHEN HE SAYS IRAN HAS NUCLEAR WEAPONS and wants to bomb Iran, even sending in missiles and continues to flame HIllary for her vote. No time no way did ANY OF THE OTHER DEMOCRAT CANDIDATES SAY THEY WANTED TO BOMB IRAN.

Oh yeah this guy does not have one put on bone in his body. Tell me more. I want to hear how pure he is. He is just as much an opportunist as any candidate, but he goes out of his way to flame the other candidates because he knows the press and everyone else are afraid to go after him, because they might be accused of being racist. Something he is trying to get people to blame on Hillary. But with her and Bill's records on civil rights that's gonna be a hard damn job. At least they didn't say Ted Kennedy the champion of Civil Rights, whose support of those civil rights has helped to get the pure one to where he is now, is too damn old and should quit the senate. That's honest and pureness for you. Say more.

23. Wierd. EVERYONE i know that knows or works with the Clintons.. loves her.
Says that she is the warmest, most genuine, and thoughtful person in D.C. She's the person that will remember that your child was seeing the doctor last week, and remember to ask you about it. They also say that while Bill is wildly popular, and a nice guy, Hillary absolutely outpaces him in terms of personal warmth and geniune personality.

The bullshit about Hillary being "calculated" is straight out of freeperland.

33. Yep, it's true!!
That's why I get so frustrated with this "Ice Queen" image that the media perpetuates and people are foolish enough to believe.

Hillary is a demanding boss who expects everyone to work as hard as she does. But, she's also the type of person who will always praise you for your good work, who will call you if you or a loved one is ill and who will try to get you the best specialist around, who will be there for you if you lose a family member, who will always remember to ask you about your significant other and your children and who will also remember your birthday.

That's why it breaks my heart, politics aside, that so many people have a distorted view of who she really is as a person.
