Edwards strategy seem to be backfiring
http://www.talkleft.com
CNN/UNH Poll

In the survey, conducted by the University of New Hampshire on Saturday and early Sunday, 39 percent of likely Granite State Democratic primary voters back Obama as the party’s nominee — that’s ten points ahead of Clinton’s 29 percent. Obama is up six points and Clinton down four points from our survey conducted on Friday and early Saturday. Former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina is at 16 percent in the new survey, down four points from Saturday. Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico is in fourth place, with the support of 7 percent of likely New Hampshire Democratic primary voters, with Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio at 2 percent.
BTW, this poll demonstrates, yet again, the utter stupidity of Edwards' debate strategy yesterday, as Obama is taking the hide out of his support. Edwards is closer to Richardson now than he is to Clinton. If he is not careful, he'll end up 4th in New Hampshire

2. One poll, and he's backfiring? How'd that ARG poll work out for the Clinton's in Iowa?
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 06:50 PM by Kerry2008
You know, where she lead by a considerable margin?

And she was back in third place.

Some see polls as the end all. They aren't.

Hillary Clinton can tell you that.

3. Edwards put all his eggs in the Iowa basket and lost. He's done.
At this point, he refuses to accept that his political career is over and is guaranteeing that nobody will vote for him in the future.

15. Obama - his vision and platform match his legislative record and history
Edwards has flipped from the right most candidate of 2004 to the leftmost (other than Kuchinich and Gravel) of 2008. He has rejected a large portion of his Senate record.

5. Last poll I saw, he was at 12% ?
Glad to hear he's gone up to 16%! By Tuesday night, he should be at least 24% if he keeps dropping like that. :-)

The composite average for JRE is 18.9%

I'd make Obama as prohibitive a favorite as the Patriots...No... Too many things can go wrong for the Pats...

9. He must like things the way they are.
Doesn't want to mess with the status quo, 'cause everything's so great.

Obama owes big bucks to lobbyists and PACs. No one could truly possibly believe they won't be calling for favors and exceptions if there's an Obama White House.

Edwards is the only one who can really bring change. It's just a sound byte for all the others.

22. I agree with you there. But I don't think Edwards is trying to stop Obama.. and I just
don't see the need for this blatant animosity from certain Obama posters toward Edwards. That's all I was sayin. Edwards is no threat to him.

25. There's a LOT more to it than just that:
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 08:17 PM by AndyA
But behind Obama's campaign rhetoric about taking on special interests lies a more complicated truth. A Globe review of Obama's campaign finance records shows that he collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from lobbyists and PACs as a state legislator in Illinois, a US senator, and a presidential aspirant.

In Obama's eight years in the Illinois Senate, from 1996 to 2004, almost two-thirds of the money he raised for his campaigns -- $296,000 of $461,000 -- came from PACs, corporate contributions, or unions, according to Illinois Board of Elections records. He tapped financial services firms, real estate developers, healthcare providers, oil companies, and many other corporate interests, the records show.

Obama's US Senate campaign committee, starting with his successful run in 2004, has collected $128,000 from lobbyists and $1.3 million from PACs, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonprofit organization that tracks money in politics. His $1.3 million from PACs represents 8 percent of what he has raised overall. Clinton's Senate committee, by comparison, has raised $3 million from PACs, 4 percent of her total amount raised, the group said.

In addition, Obama's own federal PAC, Hopefund, took in $115,000 from 56 PACs in the 2005-2006 election cycle out of $4.4 million the PAC raised, according to CQ MoneyLine, which collects Federal Election Commission data. Obama then used those PAC contributions -- including thousands from defense contractors, law firms, and the securities and insurance industries -- to build support for his presidential run by making donations to Democratic Party organizations and candidates around the country.

So the MSM is going to pick the democratic nominee, so that their corporate masters will have another pro corporation repubvlican president

18. Ridiculous
Obama is attracting young people and independents in record numbers, and he won Iowa handily. He can win in the general. You may not be ready for a black president, but don't judge all of this country by your standards.
