NH Bd. Member of Planned Parenthood: Clinton Mailing On Obama Choice Record "Appalling"!
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 04:49 PM by Dems Will Win
Clinton has no morals I guess:

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I received the attached mailing from Hillary Clinton. I was appalled to see Senator Clinton resort to a "Swift Boat" attack on Barack Obama. As a member of the reproductive rights community in NH, I am insulted by the misuse of information, and would have imagined that Senator Clinton would have had many positive things to say about her own record without resorting to this type of negative campaigning. Obama cast these votes as part of a strategy employed by pro-choice leaders in Illinois. That's why so many top pro-choice leaders were outraged by the attack and immediately defended Obama's record of leadership on this important issue.

These statements came from the pro-choice leaders in Illinois when Senator Clinton's campaign originally made these allegations several weeks ago:

"During his years in the state legislature, Barack Obama was a strong and consistent supporter of women's reproductive rights. He worked hand-in-hand with Planned Parenthood in developing and executing strategies to make sure that women had access to reproductive health care. I also want to thank him for standing up with us in the effort to open the Aurora clinic and for his introduction of legislation guaranteeing access to low-cost birth control. Planned Parenthood/Chicago Area has proudly endorsed Barack throughout his entire political career." Steve Trombley, CEO & President, Planned Parenthood/Chicago Action

"The present votes Obama took at that time, along with many other pro-choice legislators, were 'no' votes to bad bills being used for political gain. We asked Senator Obama and other strong supporters of choice to vote present to encourage Senators facing tough re-elections to make the right choice by voting present, instead of caving to political pressure and voting for these bad bills. In the Illinois State Senate, Obama showed leadership, compassion and a true commitment to reproductive health care. The Republican Senate President at the time constantly used anti-abortion bills to pigeon-hole Democrats so that he could target them with misleading mailers during campaign season. It was a tactic that was about politics, not policy - and Obama didn't let them get away with it." Pam Sutherland, President & CEO of Illinois Planned Parenthood Council

As you know, I have actively supported Barack Obama's candidacy. For me, he brings a new level of honesty and decency to American politics. I hope you will join me in supporting him in the primaries and next November. Together we can change the face of this country and get back to addressing the needs of its citizens.

2. From the NARAL America web site

Barack Obama (D) 100%

To be fair, it seems that NARAL either rates you at 100% or 0%. But Barak rates 100%.

If he is good enough for NARAL, that's good enough for me on this subject.

(I was leaning toward Biden, but after he dropped out and Gore isn't getting in, and seeing the regular hate fest here against Obama... I guess I'm joining the Obama camp)

3. One more reason...
...why I call her "Hillary Rove-ham Clinton."

Although, in a way, that isn't fair. KKKarl may have been ruthless and manipulative beyond the point of sanity, but it was done for the (in his mind) justifiable end of enshrining conservative philosophy as the permanent guiding force in American politics. What HRC is doing is exclusive of any political philosophy whatsoever (as can be easily judged by her voting record in the Senate), but merely "justified" by the end of gaining herself the presidency, principle be damned.

:grr:

4. Its stupid of her to attack Obama at all
Its much worse if its a bogus attack. Hillary was at 47% nationally before she started going negative. Within a week, she was down to 40%. Last I looked she's back down to 36%. I don't know why she or her campaign can't see what they are doing is not working.

The nomination was hers on a silver platter. The only things she had to do was show everybody she's not the witch she's portrayed to be and show she can handle pressure without her husband to back her up. Going negative hurt both these requirements.

5. Karma is already nibbling on Hillary Clinton's pant suit
She has been unprecedented in being negative and it is obvious that her little plan is not going to work.

It's unfortunate that we have to see just how ugly she is on the inside as she plummets.

7. It looks like she's throwing up one misleading attack after another
and hoping there won't be enough time to debunk them before the election.

10. I was wondering how they were going to respond to this
I'm glad she made a statement. It's disappointing that HRC's campaign used this when they knew the history.

Glad to see they acted quickly to help shut down that lie.

17. The Clinton campaign knows everything rides on NH
and are just throwing everything they've got at him hoping it sticks. Politically-aware Dems are smarter than that though...these personal attacks aren't going to help her in the long run.

This wasn't a new tactic. It actually force Planned Parenthood's hand. PP does not endorse in primaries between multiple pro-choice candidate unless one is an incumbent. But attack PP's strategy, and out come the claws.
