Sorry, guys, I stand corrected. But frankly, having a lobbyist anywhere in his campaign management structure, especially one that lobbies for the drug industry, is a huge misstep, IMHO.

Obama: $59,661,650

vs.

Edwards: $21,569,452

TOTAL: $38,092,198 in Obama's favor. (All that lobbyist and PAC money sure adds up fast...and all those favors he's going to owe if he becomes President...more of the same...)

Notice John Edwards top contributor is ActBlue.

15. I think the difference in the totals more than tells the story.
Hedge Funds are one thing, but lobbyist and PAC bribes are another.

6. one more time. Odds are that this guy represents
all kinds of clients from environmental organizations to corporations. That's how they do it in NH. And there is nothing fundamentally wrong with it. There is no such thing as a lobbyist who only represents pharma or any other single special interest in a state like NH.

7. If your entire position in the polls now is all because of promised change however ill defined,
why on earth would you allow a lobbyist to be a campaign co-chair of any state?

Not good, no matter how it will be spun.

9. I'm just tired of the ignorance here.
state lobbyists are a whole different kettle of fish than the K street crowd- and even there, there are distinctions.

Lobbying is a concerted effort designed to effect influence, typically over government authorities and elected officials. It can consist of the outreach of legislative members, public actions (e.g. mass demonstrations), or combinations of both public and private actions (e.g. encouraging constituents to contact their legislative representatives). The term is normally used to describe the professional occupation, also known as "government affairs" or "public affairs". Practitioners may work in specialist organizations or as part of government relations or as public relations consultancies.

17. Don't know about you guys,
But this is the "lobbyst"....and he just doesn't seem so bad.

Demers heads up a lobby firm of his own name, The Demers Group. He was also a Democratic nominee for Congress in 1986. He is respected by legislative leaders from both parties and is relied on by reporters to be very knowledgeable with the latest statehouse rumor or how pieces of legislation are moving. He is also a frequent Democratic analyst for WMUR-TV.

He gives thousands in contributions to the state Democratic Party and Democratic campaigns. In 2004, he headed up campaign for Dick Gephardt in the state. And to aid in that effort Demers purchased an RV from eBay that he then drove around the state with Gephardt to campaign events.

21. He should dump all lobbyists
We need to demand these candidates be serious about change. This may be how lobbying is done, but when you're running against lobbyists you need to walk the talk. It's that simple. The guy needs to go.
