7. I frankly haven't noticed Hillary doing it.

Are you possibly saying that Clinton isn't vilified much more than Obama and Edwards. Where have you been? People criticized Obama and Edwards...they are down right vicious regarding Hillary. I've never seen anything like it. You'd think she was Rove or Rush the way they talk about her. You'd never guess she was a fellow Democrat.

9. Riiiiiiiight..Poor poor hillary..
It was just her mean ol surrogates who tried the smear campaign when they decided to go negative against Obama. He handled well, though..and if it shot her bush enabling, fearmongering, sabre rattlin' ass down then I should thank, mark penn, bobby shaheen, and bob kerrey.

11. Remember the last person they talked about that way?
Republican lite? The "reason we should vote for Nader"? His name was Al Gore. He won the nobel peace price and is respected the world over. those who supported Nader, and vilifying the Clintons were basing their actions on the conjecture that this man was "just the same as George Bush".

3. a vetting process, not pretty, but necessary...
as bad as the bloodletting gets, and as smelly as the arena becomes it is just a ttraining session for the real thing, and as history has already shown the opponent is no slouch at dirty political wrestling.

4. I think this is a primary, and last time I looked, the Dem candidates were running against.....
... one another! :-)

I think that means they're competing....
I think that also means they're each trying to show they are better than the others.

:-)

One doesn't do that by pointing out the good qualities of the other person LOL!

15. Yes, it's a primary...not a boxing match without the gloves.
I hardly EVER hear Edwards or Obama supporters saying WHY they are better. They just spend their time spewing hatred toward Hillary. That's not the proper way to have a primary. There is no meat...all hate!

23. I'm an Edwards supporter, and the reason I don't support Hillary Clinton is because.....
... she's centrist. I think too many decades of corporate abuse and exploitation of the most helpless has created a situation where many people are now suffering. We don't need any right wigners or centrists. What we need is leftists to reverse the damage done over decades by unfettered free market exploitation.

6. You know what? I really don't see that much of that sort of thing going on.
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 12:28 AM by patrice
I wonder why that is.

I see disagreements and criticism, some of it a little negative, but nothing really ugly, maybe I just don't go into the right, or wrong, threads.

I'm not a DLC fan, but I think some of the comments about Hillary are just plain WRONG. Yeah, some of the characterizations are a bit extreme, but if you react, you only give them validity. The fights only attract people who didn't have an opinion of their own and then they take up with one side or the other, building the whole thing up.

20. Perhaps it's your negativity that attracts negativity.
I pay attention plenty, just to different things than you do obviously.

Now it's your turn to tell me that I'm paying attention the the wrong things.

You'd have noticed I haven't posted negative comments about others.
I just try to defend all the anti-Hillary crap. Someone has to!
So that's being negative?

24. Depends upon how you do it.
Even then it gives it energy anyway.

There's nothing worse than being treated as though you aren't there. It helps if others cooperate, of course, then there will still be those little cliques who go right on doing their nasty shit, but the more attention anyone draws to them the more their BS spreads.

10. Jesus Christ, let's all just do a Richardson and sing
Kumbiya! People, politics is going to be messy, it always has been and will always be. At least we don't have candidates killing each other and kidnapping family members to force cooperation. Besides, do any of you think the Republicans are going to go SOFT on our Nominee? No Way....and we had best let our guys hash it out beforehand and see who can take and deliver the pain.
