2. The way I'm looking at it, it's (for me) a way to have no centrists running for Dem nominee
and that, to me, is a WONDERFUL thing!!

6. Bam!
Truthfully, either one would be great, and I would be thrilled to support them.

3. Yes, Obama would make a great VP
to succeed Edwards as President, after Edward's two, successful, terms.

5. Edwards wants to debate Obama one on one about who is the better "change agent"
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 12:07 AM by Quixote1818
It's his only chance slim as it is but first he must get rid of Hillary to do that. He has only one hand left to play and he is playing it.

7. I Don't Think Edwards Wants To Be VP
I think one thing he didn't like about being Kerry's running mate was not being able to direct or have as much say in campaign strategy. Why would he do that again?

10. I would rather see him over Obama
but the way he's going at it is creating an unstoppable Obama..
But..just part of politics I guess..

8. I think another poster here at DU my have nailed it earlier........
Sen. Edwards may have made a deal with Sen. Obama for the AG or maybe the Department of Justice spots.

13. AG and Dept of Justice are the same thing.
The AG is the head of the DOJ.

Just sayin'.

18. Yeah, it's odd. But the cabinet-level position at the head of the DOJ
is the Attorney General. An easy mistake to make, and I apologize if I sounded snarky. You're right, Edwards would be a good one.

9. Plan B for Edwards -
He will be working in Washington as a lobbyist within a year and a half - maybe sooner. Probably for the Trial Lawyers Association.

Obama has agreed to meet with him in the oval.

11. That is the best plan for him. Clear the field.
I think this is his best path. The December polls said that Edwards shares support with Hillary.

14. Edwars Lives for mano y mano against Obey!
No Contest! Obama has never done anything more than organize protests and teach class. Edwards is just getting started on a fine and very likely, in the end successful strategy to win the nomination. :)

15. Obama's got the kids - but they dont vote - and dont get mad but
I dont think Obama is electorally viable countrywide.

I'm for Edwards because I believe he really would get the lobbyists out - it takes guts to run without lobbyist money which both Obama and Hillary have accepted FROM THE HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY YET!!!

16. In that case, Edwards needs to be both the "class war" candidate AND the peace candidate
Put the people in both those constituencies together and it's an unstoppable bloc.

If it doesn't get Edwards nominated, at least it pushes Obama to run as a "passion and commitment" candidate, as opposed to a bland "I'm everybody's buddy" candidate.
