Edwards just spanked Hillary.
I always knew he had to be a damn good lawyer to be as successful as he is, but I'd never seen him unleash it before. He just popped her really good, and made her really lose her temper. If Richardson hadn't stepped in front of the bullet for her, he might have put her down for good.

7. He said that any time that real change is on the table, the forces of the status quo attack
Talking about Hillary versus Obama. Not just what he said but also how he said it--she got pissed in the extreme.

11. She raised her voice and retorted that she'd been "making change for 35 years."
Not quite yelling, and not turning red, but definitely angry and flustered. Lost her cool.

12. Ohhhh, that's when the
"making change for 35 years" came into play. Not so much the last 5 years.. so she can subtract that if they were included.

21. Yeah, like how she changed Mal-Wart when she was on its Board of Directors
or how she screwed up health care when she was First Lady. Uh, uh. great changes, Hill.
What I really thought was how the Repubs would be running a commercial with her hair style changes over 35 years with the voice over of her saying that line.

28. In fairness, Walmart was a less evil company at the time she was on the board.

Its only real crime back then was being virulently anti-union. But they weren't engaged in the kind of agressive commercial warfare and distribution of toxic products that they are now.

I thought Edwards was going to cry when Hillary defended herself afterwards.

Mr. Suck-up to Obama and then claim you brought an end to the Clinton era. What a joke.

26. More like he was trying to keep from laughing at her OUTBURST
Hillary Clinton completely and totally lost her cool and seemed very immature for those minutes of response. Her hand gestures and body language said it all.

And the bigger point: if she goes THIS bananas during a debate with Edwards then how the hell would she act should the likes of Ahmadinejad or Kim Jong Il happen to say something to her or about her as President? As I said: immature.

30. Defend herself? She raised her voice, and got pissed off.
If anything, Edwards welcomed her response.

He set up the trap, and she fell for it.

He looked like a calm, strong Presidential figure. And defended Obama and called himself and Barack agents of change, and effectively painted Clinton as the status quo candidate.

5. Hillary just made me laugh.
That's it. I'm voting for her! Well, I will if she is our candidate. Anyway, she's doing better at this point than she was earlier. She seems a little more relaxed now.

What is he smoking? He doesn't want Obama's record to be questioned for once?

32. Patience, Grasshopper
Pick off one opponent at a time. First you distinguish the Change-Makers from the Status Quo, then later you can distinguish the Change-Makers, one from the other. It's systematically dividing and culling the herd. Obama will have his day as target when the time is once again opportune.

14. Here's what's SO VERY IMPORTANT about all this.....
The fact that they're PUTTING ON THE TABLE the real issues... the poor, the helpless, the horrible, expensive economy and lack of jobs, the lack of health care, the increased homelessness, the Two Americas. When was the last time these things were discussed? It's GREAT that H. Clinton is having to discuss these things! It's great that the entire nation is HEARING these things! It's great that they've become the focus, as they always should have been! Thank GOD they're all having to discuss these things! For this, I thank EDWARDS and Obama also to a certain extent.

Hillary seemed to let her anger get away with her.

20. I think she said what she wanted to say, and took him on.
Why is it "anger" from her? Were Edwards and Obama "angry" when they defended themselves, too?

I just have a problem with the double standards.

22. Because she was angry during the exchange between them
as though she was angry at Edwards for saying she wasn't a "change agent". It was similar to when Bush got angry at Kerry's assertions. Edwards was clearly angry at the special interest groups etc.

They all defend themselves, raise voices, etc. People really freak out when she does it, though.

29. I suggest you find the clip on YouTube and watch it carefully.
It's not about defending herself--it's that you can tell Edwards' barb got under her skin, and she lost some of her composure. She took it personally. Which is, of course, exactly what Edwards intended to do: making someone over-react on the hot seat can destroy their credibility. Hence the positive impression of his lawyer-fu.

31. Oh so sexist is your statement. So, I guess a man can be pissed
and give an answer and he comes across as standing his ground but HRC's response to edwards came with fire and passion. Oh HRC saw the double team that O&E were trying to pull. She took them both on and scored points over them in the process.....HRC is what we call having "court savy".....You edwards and obama folks can call it what you want too, but if you think obama had a good night with his lackluster performancec then you would say that richardson was on fire.

Always said that obama can give a great speech just about as well as bill clinton but there is one problem when obama gets into a one to one situation or like tonight he comes across incoherent at times like another person we all know ie bush....Edwards used that same message he did in 04 about his childhood etc etc and it did not play well after the first 1000 times he said it and tonight he said it too much. Hell folks that pay attention to politics know edwards story and when obama tried to one up edwards on just who was the poorest both came across as just plain silly....

One thing about HRC and her desire to help others all these many years. She has not gained monetary wise from all the help she has given in helping others as some have....She is proud of the work she has done all these years and here is something I believe she lives by: Said in her graduation speech from Wellsley: "The challenge now is to practice politics as the art of making what appears to be impossible, possible."

And she was right about making changes and shall continue to make changes.....

Shalom
Ben David
