After all that money spent on the media and mailers in Iowa, all that time, and all of the noise of the caucus

(drum roll here please)

Delegate count:

Ob ama 18
Edwards 17
Clinton 16

Looks like a 3-way tie to me.

The M$M sure has a way of making things seem bigger than they are......and the gullible fall for it every time.

The M$M contols the pupet strings and we all hop around like good little wooden puppets....heads and arms and legs flapping

2. Don't forget Super Delegates.
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 06:59 PM by Yael
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/01/04/america/Democrats-Delegates.php

The Democratic National Committee has allotted states a total of 796 superdelegates to the party's national convention this summer. Those delegates, mainly members of Congress, other elected officials and DNC members, are free to support any candidate at the convention, regardless of the outcomes of the primaries and caucuses.

Most superdelegates contacted by the AP before the Iowa caucuses were undecided. However, among those who have endorsed a candidate, Clinton leads with 160, compared to 59 for Obama and 32 for former Sen. John Edwards.

6. Agreed on that note.
No one, regardless of their job, should carry more weight than another. Much less as much weight as a percentage of the population.

8. ? The voting age population of IA= 2 million; NH= 1 million
California has suburbs of SF and LA greater than these states combined ! THAT is the true usurpation of democracy. That these little podunks get to decide who stays in the race and who doesn't. One man/woman, One vote.

the people that support him and their behavior. I'll go with Edwards.

19. I don't believe that's correct
According to my local paper (KC Star), Obama won 16 delegates, Hillary won 15, and Edwards 14. Those figures are corroborated at the CNN website.

Yes, you read that right. Even tho Edwards beat her in percentage of caucus-goers (by about a quarter of a percent), Hillary ended up beating him in number of delegates won. And that's what really counts.

Of course, if you count super-delegates, Hillary is ahead of both of 'em, but they won't mean jack if she doesn't win it in the primaries to come. And in fact, one or two delegates from any state don't really mean anything at all. A lot can happen between now and the convention.

25. individual caucuses are weighted
based on things like past participation. Different caucuses have different numbers of delegates to award. This is why caucuses suck as a way to determine anything. They make good theatre, but they are antiquated and undemocratic. Come on folks, it's 2008 already, fucking Russia has secret ballots, time for the democrats on Iowa to join the pack

24. If it continues to split this way, might we have a "brokered convention" with Al Gore entering in?
Just wondering... Al Gore seems to be out of it right now, but if it becomes obvious that there's no consensus pick by the convention, I wonder if he can be persuaded to enter in and be the nominee then...

27. By the DLC's own standards, Hillary needs to drop out of the race NOW
In 2004, they demanded that Howard Dean quit the race after he finished third in Iowa. And never mind the delegate count either. In 2004, Kerry didn't actually overtake Dean in number of delegates until well into the primary season.

So, unless you want to admit that the DLC are a bunch of hypocrites, Hillary (and we all know they are).....

Pack up your carpetbag and go home. :)
