Read the "comments" section of this Fox News article on Barack
http://youdecide08.foxnews.com/2008/01/04/clinton-operation-runs-aground-against-obama-movement-in-milford/

Keep in mind, Fox News is watched/read by Republicans and the overwhelming commentary within this section is positive. You'll get a sense of why people are flocking to this guy.

14. Oh come on, it doesn't take a conspiracy to accomplish a thing like this.
Posing on the internet is a very simple and very common behavior. A few people can be very effective, especially when added to actual BO supporters.

2. Obama Republicans
If he gets the nomination, there will be a whole new group known as Obama Republicans. Count on it. My Republican friends would fight to the death to defeat Hillary, but are very interested in Obama and may even vote for him in the fall.

22. My Father in Law told me last spring before he died that he would vote for Obama.
My father in law was a Republican. He once told me in a political discussion at a family Christmas gathering that GWB was the best President I'll see in my lifetime. That was Christmas, 2001. Spring of 2007 he says he'd vote for Obama. At this point he was only two months away from succumbing to pancreatic cancer. I think there are many Repubs too proud to admit it, but they are secretly horrified by what GWB has done to this country. Many see Obama as a fresh face in the Democratic Party who they see as non-partisan. And they have this urge to try and clear their conscience. Just my take, anyway.

6. This McCain Supporter...Wow
"As a Republican I will hold with Commander McCain down to the last man. But if he loses the party nomination I will surely vote for Obama.

This guy got something America lost long time ago. He is a true leader. When he speaks you feel like going and following him. It is fantastic, and I never seen it on my life before.

And the best thing is, he stands for his propositions, even if they hurt his candidacy with a specific crowd. That is why I support Mr. McCain, because he does the same thing: he stands by his positions even if they are “unpopular” with some interest group.

I am tired of operations, tired of flip-flop politics, tired of lies, tired of seeing my country on shame.

And I hope Mr. Obama wins the Democratic nomination, because that would be good to see high level debate without personal low attacks. That would be good to have the two parties discussing their proposals for America, and not all the personal attacks we saw instead, since Reagan left the White House.

As far as now, I think Mr. Obama got at least this: the respect and admiration of all true Americans, being them Democrats or Republicans."

Almost brings tears to my liberal eyes.

10. Wow WOW!!
I can't believe some of these comments.

--As a Republican I will hold with Commander McCain down to the last man. But if he loses the party nomination I will surely vote for Obama.

-- It will be interesting to see how an OBAMA/EDWARDS ticket will do against a HUCKABEE/McCAIN ticket if that’s how it shakes out in the BIG SHOW!

-- I’m a lifelong Republican and I’m inclined to vote for Obama in the general election. His speach in Iowa the other night was likened to M.L. King but what I saw was Jack Kennedy.

-- I am a 77 year old Korean Vet for Obama!

-- I believe that Americans are beginning to show that they are sick and tired of Billary’s and Bush’s!!!! Obama will be a refreshing change! Great article. I too am usually a Republican!

-- I am a tried and true Republican and I do believe that Obama will get my vote.

-- I am impressed with this article, and I’m usually a Republican!

-- I am a registered Republican ( all my life). However, this time I will vote for Mr. Obama.

-- As a Republican at heart, I would vote for Barak any day to keep the Clintons away from the White House.

18. I think that's a good sign.
With so many Fox viewers (I'm assuming they are Fox viewers because it's on a Fox site) that claim that they are or were Republicans talking about voting for Obama, it seems that the conservative voting public is perhaps starting to realize that the Republican party is not quite what they thought it was.

Is that even possible? Can a one-time Bush backer finally realize that it was all just smoke and mirrors?

Yeah, I think so.

21. I think Obama will do for us what Reagan did for Republicans.
He is going to bring back to the party what we lost in those years, and set us on a new course to complete majority in the House, the Senate and the White House. It will give us the ability to begin undoing the damage done by Bush and really put the country on the right track - almost a restart of the year 2000. A second chance for America.

29. Obama Republicans?
Obama does seem to inspire a lot of people. I hope this is all true. I like both Edwards and Obama (lean more towards Edwards), but if Obama can inspire more people and bring them out to vote, I'm all for it.

This may show, as others have pointed out, how disappointing is the cast of characters running for the republican nomination.

It is certainly exciting and hopeful.

32. Why I can't buy this and I don't want to buy this
This entire post by Tee Tonic (which reads like damning with faint praise, to me; mostly because it's saying truths that are unpalatable without the syrup, but also because some of it reads like saying things you think folks want to hear). Yeah, I'm afraid to face some things:

"Tee Tonic Says:
January 5th, 2008 at 6:50 pm

For starters, I am a strong Bush supporter. I usually strongly lean republican on many issues, and have a a smart political instinct. However, I can tell that Barrack Obama is going to make history. The field is so ripe for him that there will be no fair way to stop him without an uproar. Almost all the other leading candidates in his party have significant issues that could to derail their campaigns. The Iraq war (even though I support Mr Bush) although finally showing signs of success is still an even bigger political baggage now for the Republican party to overcome.

Mr Obama more things going for him: He is genuine, not a racial militant or psycho, but a true statesman. His dual racial heritage gives him real legitimacy among both whites and honest blacks. He is very likable, intelligent, well read and articulate. He is visionary, bright eyed and crisp. Above all he does not seem partisam (at least not yet). I also admire his political instincts…he judged the prospects of the war quite rightly (along with very few americans), when it was very popular to support it.

Although I have a deep admiration for Mike Huckabee and John Maccain, I would be easily swayed to support Mr Obama’s candidacy for the following reasons:
1. He will represent fundamental change in American politics and world perception.
2. He will bring many young and disenfranchised americans into the mainline politics in the US.
3. If he wins the white house, he will force the hands of both Republicans and Democrats to work together.
4. Finally I sense that although he has often been on the liberal sides of voting in both the Illionois and US Senate (not strange for most civil rights attorneys), he appears to understand that the senate is not the white house, that he will need to accommodate all sides to govern effectively and to sustain and make a great presidency.

Finally, one piece of advise for Mr. Obama: always remember that should you end up winning the White house, the candidacy of every other minority politician in the future after you will judged against your performance for ever. Don’t you ever blow this chance, but be wise and make history and show yourself a true statesman.

Good luck !"

34. I would tend to believe this is genuine
why would a rightwinger go on a rightwing site viewed by other rightwingers and lie in the comments section? It's just too obscure a place for liberals to see it in any numbers (even though we're doing that now, LOL). Now, if WE got bombarded suddenly, or even gradually, by a bunch of freepers praising Obama, I would seriously have some doubts. But this... so many. They gain nothing by doing it in such a place.

Sure is encouraging.

35. This is why I LOVE Obama..
and why I think many DU'ers do not. This pisses many of you off.. if Repubs (THE ENEMY) like this guy... then "I" should not. Done, end of story!

Obama is a UNITER.. he is not going to be a far-far left democrat (like Bush is a far-far right Repub). This PISSES many DU'ers off... we want REVENGE for the past 7 years, right?

In my opinion - that is wrong. We have a chance to get this country back on track by comprimising, and having the guy in charge be more on our side.

And, be honest.. it WILL take some Republicans & Independants to elect this candidate (or ANY Dem) into office. I love the stats about how we have 70,000,000 Dems.. and there are only 40,000,000 Republicans. Well - right now only about 1/3 of our party votes compared to 2/3 of the Republicans. Now we have a reason to get out and vote.. a candidate people are excited about.

There is no reason for Repubs on Fox to go on & on about how they like Obama... they're only preaching to themselves. If they were writing that on THIS site, i'd be more skeptical. And - the latest post I saw (6:05pm I belive) was about how he likes Obama, but is still very much a republican, so because of that he REALLY hopes Hillary wins because he knows she's the easiest to beat.

Go Obama Go!
