once Labor and all of our people get on board and start opening up the checkbooks?

Plus, when you couple in the Democratic Party machine and its fund raising ability, won't we have as much or nearly as much money as the GOP come fall?

Am I right or completely off?

4. 140 million to spend in two months
GOP convention is in September, so that shortens the season considerably. Plus, all august we benefit from Dem convention bounce.

Anyway 75 million a month vs. 100 million a month. The difference isn't so insurmountable if you think about it.

3. We have three things working against us
1) Shrub can spend taxpayer money to look presidential. That NASCAR visit was paid for by US!

2) A large chunk of fund-raising had to be spent on the primaries. Shrub didn't have to go through that.

3) The advantage of working for corporate interests is that Shrub gets lots of corporate $$$, $2000 plate dinners etc.

6. Yeah... but
It's the maximum donation, so it only has to be one time.

7. well, can't labor
and other groups give tons of soft money to the party but not the candidate, or have their PACs do it? It's not nice, but it can raise a fortune.

11. To some extent yes
I hope they raise an unholy fortune ;) . I also don't think this one is going to as money dependent as some past elections.. a couple of reasons for this.

1) You can only buy so much air time before your message / ads get saturated. It's the law of diminishing returns. Did you see the ad 1000 times or 1001? As long as both sides raise decent money their messages will be heard.

2) This one is going to be a referendum on how Bush has done the last 4 years. He can pour all the money he wants into advertising. If me and 10 people I know are out of work and he says the economy is great, I know he's lying. Most people are smart enough to realize they are not better off today than they were 4 years ago.

And for these reasons, I think we'll win regardless.

8. Yes, but all three of your negatives have a positive. . .
Shrub's a part of them all and he can no longer hide behind how he wants people to perceive him to be.

9. Definitely
It makes him look like an idiot every time he tries to say his opposition favors "special interest"

10. It would help if we the tax payers weren't paying for Bush's
campaigning. I think the republican party should get the bill. I also think Bush should be leave without pay since he takes his vacation all at once in August. The first year he spent 42% of his time on vacation. Anyone else have a job like that??? And we paid for it? Just more corruption.

12. The Dems will probably be short
As an incumbent, Bush has a huge advantage of being able to use "official travel" to cover a lot of campaign expenses. But last time he had about twice as much money as Gore and still lost the popular vote. We're much more energized this time, so I do think we can make up the difference.

As Dean's campaign showed, it's possible for a Dem to raise a lot of money from a lot of people making small donations. If you want a Democrat to win, and you've only got $20 to spare, don't think it won't make a difference. It will. And encourage all your friends who can afford to donate $20 to do so.

Every little bit counts.
