Kos: Nader asked Dean for VP slot
Nader asked Dean for VP slot

I'm Mike Ford <...> For the last 6 months or so I was a senior advisor to Howard Dean.

Bout three months ago Ralph Nader and his entourage walked into our Vermont headquarters off the street to "dialogue".

He was quite impressive intellectually and the firmness of his vision was also impressive. At the time of the visit, Howard was still the front runner and the Nader entourage made a blatant pitch for a Nader Vice Presidential nomination.

The point of all this is to say that the only thing that impressed me more than Nader's brain was his outsized ego. Got to say, that's what seems to be the driver here and it's more about his personal agenda and, I think, about that huge ego rather than beating Bush.

7. Nader can't compare to Clark.
http://clark04.com/about/

In 1995, General Clark traveled to the Balkans as the military negotiator with Ambassador Richard Holbrooke in a US effort to end the war in Bosnia, the bloodiest war in Europe since World War II. Shortly after arriving, General Clark was traveling in a convoy on a treacherous mountain road, when an armored personnel carrier went over the edge with three US negotiators inside. General Clark ran to the site, worked his way down the mountainside to the vehicle, which had burst into flames. He called for a fire extinguisher, and pried open the hatch of the vehicle - too late to save his friends. Clark blamed Milosevic. It was a tragic beginning of the American effort to bring peace to the Balkans.

A few months later, General Clark played a vital role in ending the war at the Dayton peace talks. Historian David Halberstam wrote that some observers considered General Clark one of the "quiet heroes" at Dayton - because he worked out a peace plan that would be militarily enforceable, even though he knew it put him at risk in the Pentagon, where almost no one was behind him.

In 1997, after serving as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Southern Command, General Clark was selected for one of the top posts in the military: Supreme Allied Commander of NATO - a position first held by General Eisenhower.

As Supreme Allied Commander, General Clark commanded NATO forces during the war in Kosovo - and won the war in a way few thought possible: with air power alone, without a single allied combat death, while holding together the alliance of 19 nations, and isolating Milosevic from his allies. Milosevic's brutal campaign of ethnic cleansing' that had led to four wars - met its match in Kosovo. His attempt to drive a million Kosovars from their homes was crushed, and the loss led to the end for Milosevic, who was voted out of office and later handed over to be tried for war crimes.

8. That's for sure---Nader's been fighting for our issues for 40 years
Clark wouldn't even admit he was a Democrat until late last summer. Why do you suppose that is?

9. What in God's name
does any of this have to do with Clark, and why do you want to keep beating on him even with him out of the race? Are you bitter because your candidate is losing and you want to find a scapegoat or do you just enjoy being rude? I just don't understand this perverse need that some people seem to have.:argh:

17. He endorses Dem principles too
I don't believe him and I don't trust him. Too bad you can't respect that. Words alone don't suffice, and when someone asks to be taken on faith, that's a sure sign of dishonesty.

10. Clark's been fighting for our country for 35 years
Or does a lifetime of service in the military not count as anything in your eyes?

I think he's a despot wanna-be. I'm also a Kerry supporter, but I think you are totally wrong about Clark. I'll take his record and illustrious career of serving this country in a most honorable fashion as proof that his campaign was to take back America from the unlected frauds who are destroying it now.

Personally, I'd be thrilled if Clark accepted a Kerry invite to be VP. Two equally strong and capable leaders with integrity and intelligence is just what this country needs today.

20. Because, perhaps, ..... it wasn't RELEVANT
I know Clark was the best candidate the Dems had to offer this season, but he's withdrawn. Are you so fearful of his credentials that you tremble still, and feel the need to counter the possibility that the Party will have an epiphany before July 26th?

4. I'd vote for 'em if nominated, but Nader would add to his extant hypocrisy
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 01:04 AM by jpgray
Since with Dean he would have to compromise on some major issues. But then again, he already invests in the corporations he publicly denounces, so...? :D

16. Dean, "SNARF." Everyone Else in America: "Double SNARF."
Hahahah, if I were Dean when that happened, I'd have been expecting "Nader" to say "You've just been X'd!"

The Jamie Kennedy Experiment kicks (and kicked) Punk'd's ASS.

Later.
