Bush beating Kerry by only 6 points in Indiana?
Edited on Wed Feb-25-04 12:46 AM by fujiyama
Is it just me, or is that an extremely small margin? Indiana hasn't voted Democratic in how many elections? I doubt the state will be in play, but that's great news though. It shows how low Bush is polling even in his once safe states.

On Edit: I noticed that Bush leads Kerry by only 8 points in Kansas. Another extremely conservative safe Bush state...and Nevada is tied.

2. probably right
The state is probably not in play, but if he is forced to spend some of that war chest in even safely republican states, it might reduce his effectiveness in battleground states.

3. I noticed the poll was ordered by the local Faux outlet
WXIN-TV Indianapolis

Indiana has been hurt by NAFTA. Kerry voted for NAFTA.

The most competitive race is between incumbent Democratic Governor Joe Kernan and GOP challenger Mitch Daniels, Bush's former budget director. Kernan is leading Daniels in the polls.

4. The numbers will get better as more Hoosiers get to know Kerry.
After all the position papers, all the voting records, all the misleading advertising, it will come down to this:

John Kerry = War Hero.

George W Bush = AWOL

That equation cuts across party lines. Just ask Sen. Evan Bayh, he's an Indiana Democrat. (Just a bit more conservative than his father, Birch.)

5. Mention Bayh's name, and you just lost a voter!
Bayh is dirt among Hoosier progressives!

7. Yeah. You've said that.
And I don't recognize a lot of his father's positions in the son's, as well. Sometimes it seems as if the kid votes more like Zell Miller than Ted Kennedy.

The thing is, the times have changed in the crossroads of America. For Evan Bayh to be elected, required he change with the times.

This may be a half-a-loaf is better than no-loaf-at all, IG. Better Bayh than Quayle, and even Lugar.

Same goes for the White House. Better it be in a lifelong Democrat's hands than the BFEE's clutches.

12. I hate to presume
but I get the feeling you weren't likely gonna vote Kerry anyway, regardless of whose name I drop.
