Huckabee and McCain explore a temporary alliance
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 08:42 AM by lamprey
McCain May Benefit From Huckabee’s Jolt to G.O.P.

...Complicating Mr. Romney’s life (in NH) even more, Mr. Huckabee’s campaign manager, Ed Rollins, suggested he was entering something of a temporary alliance of interest with Mr. McCain against Mr. Romney. Mr. Rollins said Mr. Huckabee would be using the next several days to present what he said would be an unfavorable comparison of their records as governor.

“We’re going to see if we can’t take Romney out,” Mr. Rollins said. “We like John. Nobody likes Romney.”

Mr. McCain’s advisers said they did not view Mr. Huckabee as a particular threat (in NH).

Interesting, and not in a positive way. A McCain/Huckabee ticket would fill some gaps in both of their portfolios.

He's the one I dislike most. Nothing like thinning your own herd, right Ed? Heh, heh.

2. Smart but strangely open
which in itself is a call to challenge the heir select of the Bush administration. This is very good. Another sign of revolt and eating their own, but not yet definitively so. They MUST unite or be picked off by Bush tactics to clear the path for the new stooge. "no one wants Romney". Not even a real frontrunner and they publicly hammer him into the ground. Love it. Notice the difference, the desperate, bold difference in publicizing such attacks than among the Dems.

The GOP fondue fountain is starting to flow.

8. Rollins
wouldn't he be part of the "sincere" Reagan conservative revolt against the neocons? Someone may be picking up the banner at last. Someone who would be Goldwatered in the fall.

10. Romney is too dangerous to be allowed to reach first base.
I say pick these RW bums off any way we can, one at a time, especially this one.
