what * can throw at them. The Repukes really should be afraid of our two big guns right now. (Of course, that's why they're funding Nader - they think that he's a real "force" to reckon with. When's the last time a 3rd party won the Election?)

In 2000, we had (according to the media) "boring robot Al Gore, who rode on Clinton's coattails into the 2000 nomination."

Kerry has faced the enemy in battle. You think a puny little pissant like Bush (trust-fund baby handed the world, and an obsolete jet to fulfill his "patriotic duty" during VietNam) scares him?

Edwards - Hmm, a trial lawyer who made his living being able to think on his feet and win cases without the answers being scripted for him. Bush will fall apart if "cross-examined" by John Edwards.

The Repukes should be scared.

1. They are
I mean, not only do their actions show they are, but I've heard almost directly (one degree of separation) from someone who really does know.

an editorial about John Edwards written by a retired executive editor of the Star-News, a republican.

Check out his comments about how Edwards would demolish * in a debate...

Edwards can win, 12 voters at a time

<snip>
So I would say this: If Sen. Edwards is nominated at the top or selected for the number two slot on the Democratic ticket, there will be no debates here. Republicans would be nuts to agree to such a thing. He would demolish George W. Bush, intellectually mediocre at his best, and leave him a silhouette in the asphalt. Against Dick Cheney it would be a very interesting debate, but John Edwards would win convincingly.

<snip>
As I asked a very conservative guy at the Y the other day: Do you disagree with the award? And you may not like lawyers, but if that were your daughter, the first guy you would call is John Edwards.

Misjudge John Edwards at your peril. But make no mistake: He is a talented man who believes in his mission. And he is very skilled. This is a very dangerous thing if you are a Republican.

We'll see how the primaries play out. But make no silly mistake: This "lawyer" is a lot more, and only a fool would dismiss him. And not one Republican wants to debate him.

Charles Anderson is a retired executive editor of the Star-News.
