Sleaze takes a holiday
As fate would have it, actual, important political news trumped one of the juiciest celebrity-sleaze stories of the year:

LOS ANGELES - Police were called to Britney Spears' home in a custodial dispute that lasted nearly three hours before an intoxicated Spears reportedly turned over her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Officers were called to the home around 8 p.m. Thursday, and the 26-year-old singer turned over the children around 10:50 p.m., Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman, told City News Service.

Aerial footage from KTLA-TV showed Spears being lifted in a gurney into an ambulance. It was unclear where she was being taken.

If there are any lovesick astronauts or binging bimbos reading this, mark February 5th on your calendar, and let it all hang out. It may be your last chance to go under the radar until November 4th.

But if you happen to be sober on that date, you could get more sober still if you take stock of the rather fateful anniversary it marks, remembrance of which may also be ignored amid the horserace.

I switched to CBS to see who won in Iowa. Nice going, Matt Liar.

2. That is sad
So, I guess we can definitely count on close-to-zero observance of America's Day of Shame on February 5th.
