Edwards Congratulates Obama, Thanks Biden and Dodd
Edwards Congratulates Obama, Thanks Biden and Dodd
John Edwards for President
Friday, January 4, 2008

----
Chapel Hill, North Carolina – Senator Edwards released the following statement after calling Senator Obama to personally congratulate him on his victory in the Iowa caucuses:

"Earlier tonight, I called Senator Obama to congratulate him on his victory in the Iowa caucuses. Tonight's results shows how clearly the American people are sick of the status quo and ready for a president who will fight for the bold change America needs.

"I would also like to extend my best wishes to Senators Biden and Dodd and thank them for their service to our country. They ran impressive campaigns focused on the real issues that matter most to hard-working families, and I have faith that they will continue to work to build the better America we all believe in."

9. I'm not doing it, but then I am unreformed sore loser
Always have been. Nothing personal against any of the candidates. I just think Edwards is the best, and I'm not about to change my mind or even be nice about it. No other candidate can even begin to meet his standard as far as I am concerned. I like the other candidates, but I think Edwards is a head and shoulders above their league.

6. Well, she neither won nor dropped out.
So no direct mention is probably the polite thing to do.

8. Noticeable by their absence are kind words from John Edwards about Hillary Clinton.
Does she represent that status quo that he refers to? If that's what he believes, I don't think he's alone.

10. Biden and Dodd dropping out ... this is so wrong!
It's not fair that one state gets to determine the outcome of their candidacies! It's insane how money has made these campaigns so unfair. By the time Super Tuesday comes around, we may have a choice of one person per party.

I am really ticked off that Iowa and New Hampshire are making these decisions for the rest of the country. I'm steamed that campaigns are ridiculously expensive. There has to be a better way to do it!!!

11. I like the retail politics we've been somewhat able to observe
in Iowa; the worst part is the effect of media and money. Without dramatic change, we're dead IMO.

15. i understand why they did it ...
just saying that it's "wrong" in a general sense. The system is "wrong". The amount of money spent is "wrong". I would have liked to see them continue a bit longer, so other states could have a chance to get to know them, along with the other candidates.

I'm really pissed ....

14. I just logged on, so am probably way behind on
many things, but I didn't realize Biden had dropped out. I did receive an email from Chris Dodd, but I'm kind of surprised by Biden.
