Biden talk-
I can't post in the biden forum because i don't have extra money to support du... i apologize... but for Biden supporters.. I live in Iowa and in a very small rural farm township... the only supporters there were my husband and myself. The obama people were rude and though they tried so very hard to get us it didn't happen. The hilary people were kinder but again we wouldn't fold. The edwards and biden people did not have enough to go either way so we all went undecided. In my heart I just couldn't fold just yet. I am so sad to see this happen. What happens now.. is it over.. does Biden have any chance...

8. they tried so hard
my husband who is so not a bold person was arguing with the obama people.. it was kinda funny to watch.. he elected me the chair.. LOL.. we love biden so much and believe in him. With talking to other supporters.. edwards people said they liked biden but were convinced to run for edwards.. just not sure i understand completely.. if people like biden that why is he not winning??? Richardson hasn't even tried that hard here so how is he doing better?

sorry... just venting....

3. I'm really sorry to hear this.
I'm a Biden fan, too, and of the top three I would have much preferred to see Edwards win. Obama doesn't impress me at all -- in fact, I think I'm even liking Hillary better than him, which is saying something.

18. Uh yeah,
because no one gave him a fucking chance. it's a sad day in America, when the MOST QUALIFIED person for the POTUS, is totally ignored.

I'm truly disgusted.

20. it was disgusting
the pollsters that called... they would only give you a choice between the top tier candidates and got mad at me when i repeated biden again and again....its do wrong to have qualified people lose just because the media ignored them.....i have nothing against obama personally but i will never believe he is ready for this job....just my opinion...

13. Check my sig. Biden is done
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 09:46 PM by TheDonkey
I do not mean to sound crude. I say to check my sig because I've been supporting Biden's website for MONTHs now. I am not a hater. But his chances of winning in this very hot and hyped race are just too small. He's a great guy. Keep suppoting the democrats and once we are in office I really hope Joe is part of the adminstration.

Well it looks like sigs have been turned off but I've been linking to uniteourstates.com for a long time. Biden rocks but it remember he won't crawl into a hole and die after this. I'm supporting Obama now!

21. You should feel proud
that you supported the candidate you believed in, despite the fact that the media never gave him a chance, despite the fact that he didn't have the "Reality TV" characteristics so beloved of a generation of short attention spans, and despite the fact that he didn't have mountains of cash at his disposal. You made up your own mind based on what is important to you and using a well developed judgement of character. You didn't follow the herd. I salute you, for I feel there may not be many left in our party that will follow your example.

29. UPDATE FROM BIDEN'S CAMPAIGN
This is from the blog on Biden's site:

Tonight: Live From The Science Center Rally
January 3rd, 2008 by Erin Medlicott
When I get more news I will give it to you. Stay cool, everyone. Stay cool.

Several people just told me this district (one of which, 60, I was in their caucus…) is very strong Clinton stronghold, and that it was expected that my caucus would not do as well for Biden. The people here helped Bill Clinton back in 1992 and 1996 and they remained loyal to the Clinton name. And they told me how proud of our group they are, because one of the three Biden supporters remained firm in her support of Joe! District 59 did not do that- they all switched to Clinton or Obama.

———————————————————————————

Jan. 3: It’s 8:35 p.m. and I just arrived at the Science Center of Des Moines, the brand new gorgeous museum building in the downtown Des Moines area. In one of the big meeting rooms with a large screen and speaker system, there is a stage and podium set up on the left side of the room. Blue bunting and four American flags on the stage, with a large Biden For President ‘08 sign in between.

A white podium stands in the front of the stage, with another Biden sign in front, near the microphones. Right now the large screen on the wall is broadcasting CNN TV News, we are just watching the prediction that Mike Huckabee will win the Iowa Caucus for the Republican side.

Several Biden supporters are trickling in and sitting on the chairs set up by the media section. The print and TV press are here with TV cameras waiting for the Senator to arrive. They got here early to set up their equipment.

More news as I get it…….

31. Report from SE Iowa
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 10:44 PM by dragndust
I was the precinct captain, and for a long time I thought I was all alone. Finally one guy came in, and I hugged him I was so grateful LOL.

We ended up with 8, Dodds 5, Richardson 6, and Kucinich 2. There were 200 people there. Even if I had picked off everyone from the above groups we still wouldn't have reached the 30 needed for a delegate.

I was told by the campaign to remain undeclared if we didn't have a viable group, and I told the rest their choice was to do the same, or join another group. Nineteen of the above were cheap dates; taking off with the first group to approach them.

The three of us remaining were bombarded. I told the two guys with me they could go, but they said no way. In the end we were all undeclared.

One woman from the Hillary camp made the argument that Hillary and Joe often worked on bills together, and I replied, "And you think he did nothing before she came along?"

Obama ended up with around 100 people, Hillary 60, and Edwards 40 (translating to 5,3,2 delegates respectively).

What really bothered me is each candidate sent a precinct captain to put their sign up in their area, and greet people coming to their group...except for Hillary. I don't think it was right that she had at least 20 people in blue T shirts, hats, and volunteer tags around their necks. They were pushy, rude people who accosted everyone through three sets of doors, and down two halls. They also seemed to be responsible for the tables loaded with food since they and the food were there before anyone else.
