35. I agree. I'm relieved. I'm more worried about Romney.
I hope that the fundies stick with Huckabee. Even if he doesn't win the nomination, they may be so disgusted with their other choices, they'll just stay home in the general election or even vote Democratic.

40. I don't think that Huckabee will play ball with the corporatists.
Unlike the chimp, Huckabee appears to be sincere about his religious beliefs. Their insane, no question, but he's sincere about them. He won't be willing to turn them inside out to please the corporatists.

The corporatists want Romney or Giuliani. I think that they're terrified of the thought of a viable Huckabee candidacy.

20. The thing about Chuckleberry is
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 09:17 PM by EarlG
he gets the evangelical Christian support that Bush did, but no other Republicans want to go near him. I can't see independents voting for him. He won't win New Hampshire. The GOP is split three ways between religious Republicans (Huckabee), "business" Republicans (Romney), and "security" Republicans (Giuliani). Bush was able to unite these three factions and still only squeaked into office. They were hoping for Thompson to be the great uniter, but he turned out to be half asleep. I can't see any of these candidates holding the GOP coalition together.

Personally I'm rooting for a brokered Republican convention.

Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 09:17 PM by GreenTea
by over six hundred thousand nationwide, and if Supreme Court doesn't stop the vote recount Gore wins Florida and the electoral votes as well.

kery we see new shit coming out every week in Ohio (including Bradblog today) how the republicans who controlled Ohio stole the election for Bush there in many, many different ways....Kerry get the electoral votes in Ohio as he should have, bush goes home and Kerry is prez...Thank Karl rove and the Diebold machines.

Huckleberry has zero charisma and won't be any threat to John Edwards what so ever....none of the republicans can beat a very chrismatic fighter as John Edwards is!!

To paraphrase the OP, 50 some odd percent of Americans were thick and fearful enough to vote for Bush in 2004- and bewteen the sorporate media and the Democratic Congress, seems to me they could easily go that way again.

"Theocrats." "Dominionists." Do you honestly believe these megachurch-goers are crazy inbred yahoos out in the sticks waving nothing but snakes and Left Behind novels?

They're not.

A lot of them are working class and middle class suburban people from the Midwest and the South. There's a lot of people who could be persuaded to vote for Huckabee even if they're not necessarily "evangelical." The moneyed corporatists control the GOP, but the people who are the GOP are these Red Staters who are possibly open to the Huckster.
