Forget the DLC! Found a Progressive Organization!
Well I know I'm not the only one who the DLC has managed to piss off with their constant and steady move to the right. I know there has been talk among people about halting contributions to the DLC and finding a new progressive organization... well I've found one. I don't know if everyone has heard of it, but they are called 21st Century Democrats. Their website is: http://www.21stcenturydems.org

Here is where they stand on the issues:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Quality public education for all children
We believe all children deserve a top quality education and we oppose voucher schemes because they drain funds from our public schools.

Universal healthcare coverage
We are committed to reforming our health care system so that all Americans have access to the highest level of care.

Corporate accountability
We think major corporations ought to be held responsible for their actions and should be regulated to ensure that their power does not undercut the authority of our government.

Fair taxes and responsible social policy
We support a fair and just tax system and we oppose the Bush tax cut which serves only to help America’s wealthiest citizens.

Good jobs, living wages and secure pensions
We defend the rights of workers to organize for fair wages and good working conditions and we oppose attempts to privatize or undermine our social security system.

A clean and sustainable environment
We believe our environment must be protected and we support the advent of new technologies to encourage continued preservation.

Civil and human rights for all
We support equal opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, gender, age, ethnic or religious background or sexual identity.

Clean election laws
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to attain public office—not just the very wealthy. We support laws that would limit the use of private money in elections.

Side note: I wonder if Dennis and Al know about this organization?

4. here's what I wrote to Congressman Mcdermott
Congressman,

I know you are an honorable man. I marched along side you during the Seattle protests of the illegal and immoral Iraq war. I have listened to you speak and have roundly defended you to those who would disparage your character.

I now need something from you. I need you and other like minded democrats to form an alliance to restore the power of the PROGRESSIVE wing of our party. The DLC and NDN has corrupted the vision of our party and now has our represetatives beholden to corporations rather than the people they supposedly represent. We need a grassroots, populist group who gains its power from the people rather than BIG BUSINESS. Howard Dean, love him or hate him, has shown us that such a thing is feasible. Form an Anti-DLC. Form the American Populist Democrats.

The progressives and liberals of the party must band together and follow his populist example. The DLC NDN is destroying our party. Under their watch we have lost both houses, the white house and many Democrat Governors.

If things don't change the Democrats will cease to be a viable option for me and many like me. People like yourself could stop a large exodus by standing up to the DLC. Please help me. Please help the party.

5. Putting in a good word for the 21st Dems
I've worked with a few of them before, and they're awesome people.

Their number-one priority is getting progressive candidates into office, and they move workers around to help with campaigns. They're a huge asset.

Every one I've ever met has been a great person, really easy to get along with, really nice. They're a very classy group of individuals.

7. I've contributed $$ to them.
Worth every penney. None of their support goes to pink tutu Dems. Just to real fighters with principle.
