Is Judge Roy Moore running on the Constitution Party's ticket?
I wanted to see freerepublic.com for myself and ran into some posts about Moore running. I'm wondering if this is true. I don't want to get too happy prematurely. Has anyone read anything about this?

but there are hot movements afoot to draft him

Roy Moore for president?
'Ten Commandments judge' won't rule out challenge to Bush
February 2, 2004

Jessica Atteberry, a spokeswoman for Moore, emphasized yesterday to WorldNetDaily Moore is focused on his appeal to the Alabama Supreme Court but indicated he would not rule out a candidacy for the country's highest office.

"Anything is possible," she told WND. "However, until the appeal process has been run through, he'll make no decision for political office."

9. "not right now" is what he said at the Constitution Party convention
Edited on Tue Feb-24-04 05:12 PM by PDittie
on January 24th, at Lancaster PA.

He's still doing a lot of speaking at their state events, and while they have an announced candidate, if Judge Moore can be swayed, it would be a good thing for us...

Go see this article in Slate:

2. I had assumed it was an open possibility until after June
The Constitution Party has its convention then and he may get into the race. I'm sure he is pissed about Pryor getting a federal job from Bush.

3. Wouldn't suprise me
The fundies are getting pisses at *, and his recent endorsement of the anti-gay marriage amendment shows he's desperate. I wouldn't be suprised if Moore ran 3rd Party, and these links proove it:

The Consitution Party also seems to want him to run, over their current front-runner, Michael Petroutka.

6. Maybe this summer he'll declare?
The Judge better avoid small airplanes, though. I am sure $hrub's side has no qualms about eating their own for the good of the larger picture.

5. He might
I believe his spokesman said he isn't running "right now." Well, we know that, but will he run? I don't think he has responded to that question, so there may be a possibility. The right wing nuts in the Constitution party would be perfect for Moore.

8. My money is on he runs.
I think he may feel more comfortable running with Nader in the race. Moore has been going all over the country, speaking at Constitution Party events. I think he is going to run.

10. When Clark was first asked about running he would react the same way
He'd say things like "I'm not a candidate" but he gradually changed his tone. Moore would do far more damage to * than someone like Peroutka would.

11. We should be very careful - we can't let this guy carry any states.
I think the 2004 election will be very close, with maybe a twenty to thirty point spread. In that case, we cannot let this guy carry any states, because then we risk throwing the election to the house. If that happens, we're screwed.

We have to make sure that this guy splits off enough votes to give us states like Alabama but not enough to get them himself.

I guess we should aim for another 1912, really, when Roosevelt and Wilson both challenged the incumbent Republican, and the conservative split handed Wilson the white house with 300-odd votes.

13. That's not good at all.
Although I guess since the state went to Bush anyway, it really doesn't make it any harder for the Democrat, just harder for Bush. And if the election does get thrown to the House, we'll at least have the comfort of knowing that Bush wasn't ever legitimately elected.

14. Of course not. One of the reasons Repubs have been winning is that
unlike the radicals in the Dem party, the radical rethugs know that since they prefer a rethug to a dem it's not a good idea to enable their opponents.

15. Rove will buy him off - or else.
No way will Rove allow Moore to run. He will do what is necessary to prevent it.

16. In doing so Rove could alienate a lot of moderates.
If he has to pander to the ultra-conservative religious right, he risks turning off a lot of moderates and liberal republicans who would be disgusted by it.

17. i'm not sure rove could buy him off
judge moore is, of course, on a holy mission from the lord god himself. pat robertson only THINKS god whispered in his ear. god shouted in roy moore's. and karl rove is just another example of satan in disguise.

if i were the good judge, i'd stay off small planes and make sure i didn't have any skeletons in my closet.

what does a girl in alabama say after she loses her virginity?
"move, daddy. you're crushing my cigarettes!"
