Isle Democrats expect to vote on principle

WAILUKU - The candidates of their choice may be lagging nationally, but supporters of the various Democratic candidates for the presidential nomination may still have an impact in the Hawaii caucuses Tuesday.

"I think we're going to have huge participation. My phone has been ringing off the hook," said Jonathan Starr, Maui County Democratic Party chairman.

Democratic precinct caucuses will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at 15 locations around Maui County. Voting is open to current party members as well as anyone who wants to join Tuesday night.

The caucuses won't all be held at regular voting sites, so Democrats should double-check the location of their meeting.

the "story" would be about which one got more votes.

Or the New York Times would carry the Utah and Idaho results and ignore the Hawaii caucuses.
