Carville said Edwards would make great President
did anyone see this part on crossfire. novak did some thing on edwards saying he doesn't want to be vice president and how that means he really does. but he asked carville about edwards being vp and carville said edwards would make a great vp, and he would be a great president also. i still think carville favors kerry of all the candidates, but i'm glad carville said this about edwards. i don't think novak wanted him to though.

1. No one running for President will admit that they would like to be VP
It would be a sign that they believe that their candidacy may not be successfull.

2. Carville's right
Edwards is my second or third choice. In terms of electability he might be the top choice.

3. Thanks, Carville! Now if only Edwards could talk with him about
how to disagree politely but assertively with one's wife while on MTP...

5. It's true, as it is with Kerry
I believe the Clinton camp preferences are with Clark, Kerry, and Edwards- perhaps in that order.

18. Over a year ago Clinton said he liked Edwards.
Edited on Fri Jan-02-04 12:09 AM by PeaceProgProsp
I wish I kept the link (it was discussed here and there was a link to the article). Clinton gave a speech at a university, I believe. In the Q&A, he was asked who he liked for 2004. His reply was that there was a young, southern Senator who reminded him a lot of himself when he was young.

Dean
Clark
Kerry

All of our candidates would be great.

8. I think he would, too.
Although I'm a Clark supporter, I think Edwards is sincerely concerned about the state of the country and is honest, trustworthy, and would do a great job. I don't agree with some of his positions, and I CERTAINLY don't agree with his vote on the IWR. But all in all, he may make the presidency one day, if he tries again. Later.

9. Edwards supports PATRIOT Act
We are not safer with a Democratic President under PATRIOT than we are with Bush.

10. isn't kucinich only one opposed
isn't dennis kucinich the only one opposed to it. even the ones who didn't vote for it and have criticized it have no said they would repeal it as kucinich has. if so i would like to see evidence. and edwards has spoken about the abuses and has made proposals to deal with them.

11. Kucinich is the best candidate and the best hope for America
I do support all of the antiwar candidates--which do not include the four that voted for IWR.

16. Only Braun and Kucinich would repeal the act
Edited on Thu Jan-01-04 10:10 PM by Bombtrack
Dean, Clark, and I beleive Sharpton have not advocated repealing the patriot act, and Dean, who loves nothing more than broad-brush-painting the 4 who voted for IWR, has not included the patriot act in his misleading litany of "good-for-nothing" examples. So he probably would have voted for it, otherwise he wouldn't ignore the issue as he has.

Edwards atleast has an actual plan to permanantly protect liberties, including any infringed apon by the act.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/05/04/dems.debate/

Edwards chimed in, agreeing the law is of "serious concern."

"I think the problem with the Patriot Act is not the law itself, it's the way it's being administered, particularly the way it's being administered by the attorney general of the United States, General Ashcroft," Edwards said. "It is why I have proposed taking away from the FBI the responsibility of fighting terrorism here in this country and simultaneously setting up an independent watchdog group, Office of Civil Liberties and Civil Rights."

23. I think they've almost all said something negative about the Act.
I can't recall if Edwards has, though.

12. Isn't Edwards worried about alienating the "snot-nosed" vote?
I mean, after all the press Carville gave them, I thought it was a natural concern.

13. Are you talking about when Carville acuratly called-out Dean for once
for his typical rich-kid-snob/huge-ego, nominate me or else remark?

I don't think one story was written about that, and only the small crossfire audience was privy to it.

20. Edwards Is Compiling The Most Well Thought Out Policy Positions
Been watching Edwards and sorry that his candidacy is stuck in neutral. The guy has really got some sense of how policies solve problems.

He got me with his emphasis on rewarding work versus wealth. Not only is it good politics, it's good economic policy. The reason is that it matches our economic goals with our social values. That he is the only candidate that seemed to catch this says something about his perceptiveness and his ability to be an effective candidate.

However, those traits don't win the primary races and he may never get to the General Election where he could show his stuff.

21. I think his organization is part of the problem.
For example, they still haven't cashed or acknowledged a contribution check I sent months ago. He didn't get the signatures for the Rhode Island ballot, but I don't know if that is because they made a strategic decision not to campaign there or that they couldn't get people together to collect 1000 signatures by the deadline.
