Poll question: If Biden comes in the top tier tonite - do you think the media
will finally talk about him? Or will it be about the top tier person that didn't make it?

1. He'll be the story for about 10 minutes...
then they'll go back to the same shit they were talking about before.

2. It will be hard to ignore him, but they will find a way.
Our media never ceases to amaze me in their awfulness.

3. MSM is pumping Obama like crazy. They don't even cover Edwards very much.
Just Clinton and Obama, according to the MSM no one else matters.

5. What has been driving me crazy is how they talk about all of the republicans.
But only the top tier Dems. They do mention Edwards - now and then.

But I agree, it's all about Obama today.

6. He'll get some exposure...
then it depends on how polls change in other states, and if his fundraising numbers go up, before he'll get regular media attention after that.

I think an Iowa boost is all he'll need to be competitive in other states as well.

8. Well, he said a long time ago, if he won in Iowa...
He'd win in SC. And that he was confident of.

7. They'll spend a little time talking about Biden, but spend...
hours on "Why Candidate X failed in the Iowa Caucuses!"

....they'll ignore him, as usual. x(

And that's too bad.

11. Forget the media story
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 12:43 PM by PATRICK
This is a democratic primary. Our voters will grant him new respect and he could win a lot more. Screw the GOP controlled mainstream "story". If he wins something tonight it is because many other people across the nation can see the same thing, not some odd wizardry just in Iowa. He is very credible in himself. Given a chance he will be given more of a look and more of a chance.

They want Hillary and that big chunk of Dem establishment money bled but victorious. They who try to make the "story". Besides she is not as vulnerable as Dean. Her fate too is tied to the Dem voters in other states down the road. Unfortunately, her personal qualities can be buried in the "story" which are just a cog in her overall campaign. Biden gives the confidence of being his own campaign.

Somehow even the most exuberant Biden supporters here reflect the heart of a good candidate as was true of Clark. Amazingly I oppose strongly some of their ideas, but the human relationship between man, campaign and supporters somehow is very appealing and brooks no defensiveness or bitterness even when "on the attack". Dk supporters, it goes without saying as well. I think most supporters are equally fine. It could be that the other campaigns with their equally fine, human candidates are just troubled with mistakes. That breeds a lot of defensiveness and anger. Campaign and stands with a wound that opens up the inevitable uglier sides of any person can be what lets the poison into the forums. All, or a lot of that poison comes deliberately from the GOP and playing THEIR game amd accepting their gameboard to fight for OUR destiny.

Thank you Biden supporters who have let in some needed new life into this season.

18. Thank you
I really want to believe this election can be about the people's choice, not the media's.

12. I'm inclined to believe they'll focus on the person who
didn't make it, but there is another possibility. All the pundits who wrote positive things about Biden in the past few months will use this opportunity to say, "Well, I predicted blah, blah, blah."
This could be their opportunity to get some quality airtime. AND you know Chris Matthews will remind everyone repeatedly that he'd predicted Biden would come out #3 in Iowa, though he never mentioned it again. I wonder if the powers-that-be told him to "put a sock in it".

19. If he does make second or third, and he NOT all the talk among
the media, ALL of us need to hit the media hard. Their lack of coverage of the possible next POTUS is sinful. Truly, we would need Keith O and others to address it. I'm hoping this will be a problem for us.

He has been all top tier talk just like the rest.....

But he sure can talk about Britney...

He's on my list. (But I am still faithful to him)
