Huck's stupidity continues: Claims he didn't know Leno's show had not made a deal with writers union
On the eve of the Iowa caucus, presidential politics intruded: Huckabee appeared on Leno despite his apparent confusion about the strike and a bid by picketers to keep him away, and Clinton taped a cameo introducing Letterman.

"Dave has been off the air for eight long weeks because of the writers strike," she said. "Tonight, he's back. Oh, well, all good things come to an end."

Huckabee said he supports the writers and did not think he would be crossing a picket line, because he believed the writers had made an agreement to allow late-night shows on the air. But that's not the case with Leno; "Huckabee is a scab," read one picket sign outside Leno's Burbank, Calif., studio.

The writers guild urged Huckabee not to cross their picket line after he flew out to California. But Huckabee appeared on Leno, even showing off his electric guitar playing with the band.

"Huckabee claims he didn't know," chief union negotiator John Bowman said. "I don't know what that means in terms of trusting him as a future president."

1. The usual Repug bullshit.
"I didn't know," "I don't recall," "I wasn't paying attention."

How can you cross a fucking picket line and not know? How can your handlers fail to inform you that you're crossing a picket line? How can pay so little attention to such a major news item that you don't know what's going on?

So either Huck is a liar or an clueless incompetent. Take your pick.

3. I'm surprised he didn't make it explicit that he did know. Would have helped with the true 'Pukes.

4. There's obviously more to this story.

----------------------
Perhaps it means that if you wish to negotiate, Bowman, you need to do a better job of presenting your side and be better persuasive. Just because you ask, is not the same as an order.

What isn't being said here?

Anyway, ok: how soon after Huckabee was booked did he fly out to California to be on the show? Exactly how did they urge him not to cross the picket line?

Did the writers guild spell out exactly to Huckabee what their deal was with Leno that Leno is going on the air in spite of the picketers, or was it a general there's still a strike on? because if it was just a general, then I'm kind of with Huckabee... I would have assumed that a special deal was worked out with Leno to allow his show to go on in spite of the strike.

You live and you learn. Was the invitation extended by Leno, or asked of by Huckabee? because if it was extended by Leno, then Leno and his people bear some of the responsibility for this. Don't you think?

I wonder what Huckabee was hearing from Leno's people, this entire time, and after receiving the Guild's information?

5. What an unbelievable liar Huckabee is. If he were truly
concerned about crossing a picket line, he would have double and triple checked with a variety of people to make damn sure.

I don't believe for one second he's telling the truth.

Just like I don't believe for one second that floating cross that he claimed was just a bookshelf was not intentional in his Christmas ad.

And just like I don't believe yesterday's "i'm not going to show the negative ad after all" press conference was anything other than a cheap stunt to get the ad out in a sneaky way while pretending to take the high road.

Huckabee is turning out to be one of the biggest liars in the Republic field.
