Former SC governor endorses Obama

http://thestatecom.typepad.com/ygatoday/2008/01/gov-hodges-endo.html

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, a Democratic Presidential hopeful, today picked up a major endorsement from the state's last Democratic governor.

Former Gov. Jim Hodges, who served from 1998-2002, endorsed Obama today in Columbia.

Obama, a little more than three weeks removed from the Jan. 26 S.C. Democratic Primary, is, according to recent polling, in a statistical dead heat with U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton in S.C.

4. Forgot to add he is now a lobbyist ...
"A former South Carolina governor who now runs a lobbying and consulting firm ..." from SCNow.com

"Hodges' lobbying partners include Billy Boan, a Republican and hs former chief of staff. Boan's clients include the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association. ... About 40 percent of the money he raised as a state senator came from PACs, corporations and unions, including organizations with a financial stake in legislation he was sponsoring. ... Obama has tried to reduce the influence of lobbyists during his political career, campaign manager David Plouffe said in a conference call with reporters. But there's nothing wrong with lobbyists helping the campaign with endorsements, he said."

So much for "change", more like same old, same old ...
