Heading to Des Moines to see the caucus right now

I'll be in Des Moines later today (around 7PM or so) and will see Barack Obama at an 11PM rally. I hope to have an assessment that I'll share in between my arrival and before the rally.

12. It's 3 degrees here in Des Moines tonight

I'm at a motel by the airport...the town is totally booked solid. It is jammed here with all kinds of people, media, you name it...

Lots of signs for all the candidates along the way. Plenty of fellow drivers honking and doing thumbs-up with my Obama rally sign and bumper sticker. I even gave away a couple bumper stickers and some buttons at a gas station outside of Cedar Rapids. Despite the freezing weather and snow, this place is buzzing with activity.

I'm heading over to 4800 Aurora to see Barack Obama and friends with Scarlett Johannson! Woo hoo! I'll report on it when I get back...which may be tomorrow...

It was electric and absolutely jammed. There were a few undecideds that left waving rally signs. All kinds of people from all age groups and all ready to caucus today. People can't wait to vote! What a concept! :kick:

Now I'm off to get some breakfast and do some Obama work downtown. We are taking this thang to the finish line full speed!

23. Taking a quick break before GOTV stuff

I see DU is very busy with speculations and all that. My hat is off to all who are passionate about this country and care enough to support their candidate and see that we go in the correct direction.

The people I've run into here are just amazing. All walks of life, all ages, all fired up and ready to go. It is truly inspirational.

Going out in the streets, you find people supporting their candidates and doing what they can to get the caucus goers out tonight, just a few hours from now. No obvious bad vibes from anyone...people are too busy just getting it all finished up before the caucus starts.

There are so many media vans and reporters coming by to visit and film...I may be on TV somewhere with my homies. It just rocks.

I'm very proud of the Iowans here that really care about how they leave a mark on how the Presidential race gets started. They take it very seriously and, no matter who they support, I respect their passion to fulfill their democratic duty.

Sure, there are some people who don't care and from some of the phone banking, are just sick and tired of the whole thing. I can't blame them in some respect. But the people that are dealing with the harsh winter and getting it done are salt of the Earth hardcore Americans in the truest sense of the word. Sounds corny, but it is something to behold.

I'll pop back here after the 9PM party that starts at the Hy Vee. It's going to be a wild, wild ride!
