The Gay Movement Needs A Dr. KIng And A Corresponding Non-Violent
Movement....

Dr. King was able to prick the conscience of middle America by provoking the forces of reaction to show it's true violent face as symbolized by Bull Connor turning the fire hoses on defenseless African American children...

The forces of reaction who oppose gay emancipation can be pushed to the same excesses...

They need to be smoked out and their true face exposed...

George Bush wants to make gays the Willie Hortons of Election 2004...
By forcing the Republican party to show their ugly face we can win middle America to our side on this issue...

I hope our candidates confront this issue....

1. Dr King was effective
Because his opposition was downright tyrannical. This is not the case for the gay struggle in the least. Gay people still can lead healthy, happy, free lives, or at least they can in the eyes of the 60+% of Americans who currently oppose gay marriage. I'm confident, however, that any Constitutional amendment they propose will ultimately fail, so I'm not concerned so much that we need such a force as MLK.

2. Americans Are Split 50% 50% On A Constitutional Amendment
This will be the first amendment to restrict people's rights rather than expand them...

I think Bush and the forces of reaction are capable of the same naked violence as the Bull Connors, the White Citizens Councils, and the Klan were....

3. What about the Prohibition Amendment?
I believe it restricted people's rights, too, and had a pretty good run before being repealed as worse than useless. I think we're doomed, and if I could afford it, I'd flee to a more civilized country.

4. I Forgot About Prohibition...
This amendment will die on the vine...

It might not even get out of Congress.....
