Gov. Kaine makes red state pitch for Obama
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine joins Obama on Iowa trail
by John McCormick

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- As Sen. Barack Obama travels along the Missouri River this evening, from Sioux City to Council Bluffs, he is being introduced by Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, someone the Illinois Democrat says is a leader in "one of the reddest states."

Kaine received help in his 2005 election bid from Obama. Now, he is returning the favor as Obama campaigns in some of Iowa's more independent and Republican areas. The governor is selling Obama as someone who could win a general election in the fall.

"If he were our candidate, we could get the 13 electoral votes in Virginia," Kaine said in Sioux City. "We could put the Virginia votes -- and other state's votes -- in the Democratic column and win this race. Virginia is a red state, but we've got a lot of independents and a lot of moderate Republicans who don't like what the Republican Party is doing."

1. And Gov. Ted Strickland has been making the red-state pitch for Sen. Clinton in Ohio
Please don't use this post as some farce of a notion that Obama can win over Repugs that other candidates like Sen. Clinton can't.

9. Ohio has been blessed with a fine new Democratic Leadership.

Even Joh Husted, Ohio Speaker of the House/Republican respects and likes Strickland and SOS Jennifer Brunner. The environment at the Ohio General Assembly is actually one with a work ethic! I believe the republicans are relieved that Governor Strickland is in charge. In retrospect, I bet the Ohio General Assembly/ republican pressure under Taft/Bush/Cheney/Rove was like that of an abusive, dysfunctional alcoholic family.

Here is a DU Ohio Link to Jennifer's work!
